Let's Make Up

I arrived at the office early in the morning, didn't even drink my coffee. I couldn't stop thinking about Mon. I asked Tee if they went out on a date, but she never answered.

I could hear people talking on the stairs. I got closer and saw Mon among them. I was in a very foul mood. Didn't they have work to do?!

"Do you have so much time on your hands that you're all not working? Do you want to have more free time?" They all looked at me scared including Mon.

The rest started to leave as soon as they heard that. Chin, one of the employees, was wearing this ugly neon orange shirt which was burning my eyes.

"Chin!"

"Y-yes, Lady Boss?" I think he's the most scared of me.

"Go change your shirt. The color is horrible."

"Y-yes." He walked away reprimanding himself. Mon gave me a disapproving look, but I didn't care.

"Aunt Mhee!" She ran towards me. My eyes never left Mon's.

"Yes, Lady Boss?!"

"Get me a cup of hot coffee. Extra, extra hot." I took one last look at Mon and went back to my office. A couple of minutes later, Mhee brought the coffee. I added a little bit of sugar and took a sip. "Ahh! Hot, hot!" I called Aunt Mhee. "Bring me some ice. The coffee is too hot."

While I waited for the ice, I checked my messages. No new messages from Mon.

"You're a brave one. Why haven't you sent me a text?" Supposedly after speaking to my friends, she should know that if I say something it means the opposite. Last night I told her not to talk to me, that means she should be giving me an explanation on why she would go out with Tee when we had plans! Yeah, I cancelled last minute because of Kirk, but...

Ugh! If she didn't understand what I meant, I would get the answer myself. I walked towards the door of my office and grabbed the handle. No, I can't ask her for an explanation, I can't even be mad. She has every right to go out with anyone she pleases.

I sat down and turned on the TV. I couldn't concentrate on anything. I couldn't watch a movie. I couldn't work, Aunt Mhee never brought me my ice. Is anything going to go right today?!

My tantrum was put to a halt by a notification sound coming from my phone. It was a message from Mon. I smiled.

My treat? She's poor. She can barely buy me a keychain. I grabbed the phone and called Yha.

"Yes, Lady Boss?"

"Tell Kornkamon to come to my office."

"Yes, ma'am." I hung up the phone and started looking for a place to sit and a pose to strike that made me look cooler than I already am. Mon came into the office and closed the door.

"Who do you think you are to offer me a treat?" Mon walked towards me. "Do you know how much a kilo of river prawn costs? A month of your salary and you still haven't received it. You really think you can offer me a whole meal?"

"You're bullying me again, Lady Sam." I stood in front of her crossing my arms.

"You don't know what self-evaluation is. If you do want to treat me, do it on your budget." She smiled, damn it.

"Are you asking me out for a meal?"

"River prawns. But I don't mind if you want to order something else." I couldn't keep looking into her eyes, so I looked towards my desk. "I'm making up for cancelling our date." She placed her hand in front of me with a closed fist, pinky in the air.

"Let's make up."

"What?" I could barely talk. This situation surpasses the boss/employee relationship.

"Well, you were upset with me yesterday. So, I want to reconcile with you."

"I don't want to." I wanted her to beg for a bit more.

"If you don't make up with me, I'll shoot you." What?!

"Shoot me with what?" She shot me with a finger heart. That is the cutest thing I have ever seen. "Is this how you're asking for forgiveness?" I shot her with a finger heart as well. "Geez, so childish." I had to move away from there before I started smiling. I sat down at my desk my back towards her. I wasn't even mad anymore, but I couldn't just give in so easily.

"Please don't be upset with me, my Lady Sam." I closed my eyes and bit my lip to hold the giant smile that was about to pop out. Her Sam. Only hers if she wants. I turned around and saw her leaning on my desk. Her face looked so cute.

"If you keep making this face, I won't take you to eat river prawns anymore." She pouted.

"Aww why?" I can't say no to that face, it would be inhumane.

"I'll take you there today. In fact, let's go right now."

"Huh?!"

"Let's go! Grab your things."

I was almost out the door before she quickly followed me. She turned off her computer and grabbed her bag. Before I left, I spoke to everyone else at the office.

"If anyone needs me, I'm not available. Manage it yourselves." I left without another word. I could hear Mon's quick footsteps behind me. She was so adorable. I don't know how much longer I'll be able to hide what I feel from her.

We got in my car and drove to Ayutthaya, the best spot to get river prawns in Thailand. I came here with Kirk yesterday, but it felt different to go with Mon. I actually felt happy even if it meant eating the same thing again two days in a row.
