A couple of hours passed.
You slept like the dead, in an almost motionless and dreamless state.
When you did periodically come out of your sleep, you certainly weren't of sound mind just yet. Still inebriated and unable to be completely self-aware. Only really emerging from your slumber to vomit into a trash-pail that Alastor had kept beside you before collapsing back into the soft sheets.
One of those times, you couldn't help but sob as you lay back down in bed. Mourning the loss of a life you thought you knew, and bitterly greeting something new to be enraged about. Even if you weren't fully aware, your body was still reacting for you.
Al simply held your hand -with his gloves on, as to not overwhelm you- and sat with you through it all.
It was the only thing he could do; for now, at least.
He could practically smell the liquor in your blood and in your sweat as your body tried to work the toxins out of your system. You looked exhausted and very unwell. It was not your most flattering moment, but Alastor helped you through it without a shred of hesitation.
He looked at you no differently than he did the moment he realized he loved you.
Although, admittedly, his heart did hurt that you went behind his back to talk to Johnny. Even if your intentions were innocent, the fact that you hid it was what stung.
It was later in the evening now, a little passed dinner time. Niffty had brought up a plate of food for Alastor so he could eat without leaving your side. Angel brought up a few snacks that were easy on the stomach for when you were feeling better, as well as some ginger-ale and some sports drinks.
The sky was growing dark outside. No longer casting natural light into the room, Al had turned on the lights. When he flicked on the lamp by your bed, the sudden brightness is what had finally caused you to stir.
The stags ear flicked when you let out a gentle groan. Scrunching your eyes tightly shut as you rolled your head from side to side. Immediately miserable from the pain throbbing in your head.
"Fuck." You murmured quietly.
"Hey there, sleeping beauty." Alastor replied gently.
"Mmgph." You groaned.
Forcing your eyes to open, you blinked several times as you tried to become more adjusted to the light. Dear satan your head hurt... And you felt so dehydrated it was like your body may as well have been drained of any fluid completely. Your irritation only softened when your sights set on the deer man sitting in front of you.
He was smiling, but you knew he wasn't happy.
You didn't really blame him.
But letting your poor, default sense of defensiveness take over, you spoke first before giving him a chance.
"Go on. Out with it." You spat bitterly. "I fucked up going behind your back to see him. You caught me, I have nothing to hide. So, go ahead... Tell me how you're disappointed in me."
"Tell you how I'm disappointed in you?" He asked with a sigh. "Is that how badly your mind has been warped?"
You sat upright in the bed, hoisting up your upper half with what little strength you had. His words had nestled deep, making you reflect on what you just said to him. As you did, your feelings of agitation began to subside. Instead you felt sad, guilty, and... a little afraid.
