A day after the competition Maxine invited Charlie for brunch at their fave fast-food joint, a few blocks from her best friend's condo. She wanted to cheer her bestfriend up and motivate her to try competing in another province.
Every year the seventy-seven provinces create opportunities for women all over Thailand by making them compete for Miss Grand provincial level. Winners of each province will then compete for the national title.
Competing in one province doesn't disqualify you from having a chance to grab a title in another province. Maxine, having a strong belief that Charlie will eventually join her in Miss Grand, thought of making her compete in the upcoming Miss Grand Chumpon.
Charlie strode in with her signature long-sleeve shirt casual look paired with sunglasses. Strangers would mistake her as a foreign-slash-'hollywood' personality due to her beautiful caucasian look and just by the way she carries herself.
She saw her BFF seemingly distraught while sitting at their usual table.
"Good morning Ma, everything okay?" Charlie greeted and proceeded sitting accross her.
"Morning Cha." She dismissed her nervousness and tried to look as jolly as ever. "I'm okay, why'd you ask?"
Charlie shrugged, thinking Maxine just felt lonely while waiting for her.
Maxine assessed her friend's demeanor and felt everything about her is normal. It is absolutely the perfect time to tell her about Miss Grand Chumpon.
"Did you already order for me?" Charlie asked her friend as she sat down across her.
"Yes, I ordered your usual. Wanna add something else?" Charlie shook her head as a response.
Shortly after their orders were served.
Maxine watched her friend as she eats, she decided to wait a while and let her enjoy eating first to avoid getting hit. Her friend can become very extreme when hungry.
Meanwhile her friend is minding her own business, gulping every bite of her food. Charlie has quite an appetite it makes someone wonder where all the food goes, the girl is so fit there's little to no evidence of fat showing.
Maxine can literally see her frienf's mood become better and better with food. She watched as the last drop of soup disappear in her mouth, clearing her bowl from any food scrap.
She decided it was time for her to talk...
"So, Miss Grand Chumpon will be held a month from now. "
Charlie looked at her bestfriend and sat back, letting her finish while casually sipping her Capuccino.
She paused, wary about the other's facial expression but all she coud see is a baby sipping her drink while staring at her. She let out a sigh of relief.
"I mean you came close to winning the Phuket title, why not try again at Chumpon?"
Charlie took a long sip of her boba and placed it on the table before responding, "I know."
