What a great night, video games and snacks alone. This was how I liked it, I could be myself and not have to impress anyone, just being myself. I pause my game hearing a knock on my door.
"Gumbaaaaaaaaall!" I hear as I hesitantly get up, I know that voice, it's my best friend Fionna.
"I'm coming!" I say "Just chill for one second." I open the door to a unusual sight, Fionna dressed up. "Get some nice clothes on, now." She practically demands stepping in without my consent. "Where are you going?" I laugh.
"We're going to that show for that band, The Vampire Kings, remember?" She smiles.
"Maybe I would remember if I was told." I say smiling at her. "Okay so I forgot, are you coming?" She looked at me with puppy dog eyes. "Pleeeeeeeease, I can't be alone."
This girl is always pushing me to do things I don't want to, perks of having a friend always looking for adventure. "Let me get dressed" I grumble, walking to my room.
What do I wear to a rock concert? My wardrobe was filled with mostly pink clothes, not exactly punk rock, but it was my favorite color. I found some black skinny jeans and a large pink hoodie, not exactly nice as Fionna had requested but it would have to do. She was the one that asked me to come on such short notice. I decide against messing with my hair knowing if I try I'll only make it worse.
I walked out and sighed "why is she here?" I asked Fionna, referring to the cat she was holding. "Cake comes with me everywhere, you know that gumlee!" She said like it was obvious. "I'll just keep her in my backpack and she'll be fine like always." I decided not to object, this was Fionna I was talking to, there's no changing her mind.
"So are we going to leave or do you just want to stand there?" I joked. She rolled her eyes and walked out the door. We decided to walk since we were so close to where the show was being played.
I could smell the smoke and alcohol from outside, maybe it wasn't too late to back out... This didn't exactly seem like my type of place. "Well come on!" Fionna said pushing me towards the door. Walking in I noticed just how crowded this place was. Was this band really that popular? I was kinda excited to see a live rock band, I didn't get out much so I was unsure what the experience would be like. Fionna and I stood close to the front, something about getting the full experience or something like that.
Everyone cheered as the band members walked on stage, one stood out to me. He was a guy about my age with pale skin and dark black hair. He wore a red flannel, dark skinny jeans, and red converse. He was for lack of a better word, hot.
He walked up to the microphone and introduced his band. "Good evening guys, I'm Marshall Lee and we're The Vampire Kings!" He yelled, making the crowed roar.
As he began to sing I felt myself getting lost in his voice, it was perfect. I began to stare, which I know I shouldn't but how was he going to notice with all of these people? As I was staring we accidentally made eye contact, I held his gaze as he winked at me. I quickly turned away, my already pink cheeks heating up. Oh my god. Did he really just do that or am I imagining things? He couldn't have been winking at me, I'm just, well, I'm just me. Their song was over by this time.
I decided to write it off as an accident until Fionna came over.
"Oh my god Gumlee!" She smiled "he totally winked at you!" This made me blush harder. "Even if he did that doesn't mean anything" I sighed "he wouldn't like anyone like..me." She looked at me with what I think was sadness.
"Oh Gumlee, don't put yourself down like that" she looked at me "anyone would be lucky to have you." Everything felt a little crowded so I decided to go outside.
"Um I'll meet you later, I'm gonna get some air" I told Fionna as I was already walking out.
It wasn't too cold outside but I was happy to have worn my hoodie. I felt so stupid for thinking about Marshall Lee like that. There's absolutely no way someone like him would like someone like me. I hope he didn't see the way I blushed after he supposedly winked at me. By now I was pacing thinking about tonights events. God why did I have to be so stupid why did I ha-
"hey" my thoughts were interrupted by a voice I couldn't forget. "I'm Marshall Lee" he smirked almost flirtatiously.
"M-me?" I said clearly confused. "Well who else would I be talking to?" He laughed.
"Well um I don't know..." I said nervously. Why is he talking to me? He must be just messing around with me, like a joke.
"So, how would you like to maybe hang out?" He said, his face expression looking softer than before. He seemed less confident than before.
"Hang out? With me?" I asked in shock. What was he getting at?
"Well yeah you" he laughed a little "you're kinda adorable" I swore I saw him blush. God was he attractive.
"Well I don't know about that.." I blushed "but if you're serious about hanging out then I guess we could.." I wasn't sure about this but I definantly wasn't going to give up the chance of hanging out with him.
"Well..where would you like to hang out?" He asked "we could go to my house, yours, anywhere."
"My house would be nice, its roomy and I have some video games we could play.."
