Featured Lyrics:

I don't wanna make a big scene
I just need a moment, lying on this street
If your lungs stop, you die
If you lose love, that's life
What a blue sky

And yesterday I told my mother
You learn to love again
And oh, she was the daughter you never had
And I know sometimes you might miss her
But I know the years can heal
And if there is another
Maybe you'll love them in the same way you loved her

And tomorrow I'll say mother
You learn to love again
I know you want to write her
You never thought you'd grow a blood bond to another
You didn't birth, but that's the joy of human nature
Some people stumble into your heart for all time

[LOL PLEASE DONT MISS THE DOUBLE UPDATE! - CHAPTERS 39 & 40]

Three Months Ago - Thanksgiving

Eren closed the door behind him, resisting the urge to pull it open and enrapture you back in his arms, to apologize for the way he treated you, and to tell you that what you were to him was anything but over. He listened behind the door to the sounds of your cries as you walked further from him, as the gravel grated on the cement.

His lips quivered pathetically, knowing very well that there was still truth in the words he said.

"I've done nothing but grow up, Y/N. You're still living in this haze where dreams and wishes come before everything. That wanting something is enough. It's not." He had bought into that haze. Within it, he stayed for a while, dragged you along, and left you behind. After all this time, he knew that it was a mistake to let his love for you get this far. The lack of regret that he felt was something that he didn't expect.

"Are you okay, Eren?" his mother asked, wheeling herself forward so that she was in the direct line of sight as he hung his head down.

'It's always the other before myself, isn't it Mom,' Eren thought to himself. 'That's what love is.' Falling to his knees, Eren felt his whole body shaking. He blinked back the tears, knowing that he had no right to cry. He had broken the heart of the one he loved most. In the end, he wasn't sure if it was for his sake or for yours. 'You taught me that's how it works.'

"That was YN outside wasn't it?" his mother asked. He could tell by the tone of her voice that she was trying to feign ignorance. He was scared of what she was going to say next, knowing wholeheartedly that he would agree. "You should have invited her inside. I would have loved to see her."

Eren's hand gripped tightly around the plastic bag of a haphazard Thanksgiving meal. He didn't know where to direct the frustration he felt, all he could do was grovel in front of his mother. "She's not coming back, Mom."
