(i LOVEEE this song)

Wasn't this supposed to be fun?
But somewhere along the way it got heavy
Since I saw you from across the lawn, light as the day

You said I told you what you wanted to hear
Well, you might be right but I meant every word
I whispered into your ear, besides it did me the same

Before, I could go completely alone for days at a time
Without getting lonely
But I guess you left a hole in my chest
You carved yourself a spot and now I left it open

It's been too long
I need to hear your sweet voice again
Your sweet voice again

Well, I hated that I made you cry
You wear your heart on your sleeve
And now you wanna use it to wipe the tears outta your eyes
You're getting salt in the wound

I wish you'd credit me for how hard I tried
'Cause some day you'll find someone who loves you better
But first you gotta learn how to fly on your own

You said stay, so I stayed quiet
For once in my life I knew what I had to do

There were many moments where running away felt like the best option. Where hiding your feelings and thinking things through would come before falling and reacting. Feeling the wind rushing past you and the sounds of the twirling leaves - all of these things set you down a pathway of pure tunnel vision. Anywhere felt better than back there.

You knew that running away was a problem of yours, it was something you had always done your whole life. From hiding when your parents fought, to finding the boy you were dating kissing another girl, and during the time your best friend broke your heart. It was starting to get exhausting.

Your cheeks felt hot and your skin felt steamy when you stopped at the top of a hill that looked down at the old elementary school. It was the same hill that brought sledding and rolling races and the discovery of the first pathway that began to divert you and Eren away from each other. Proof that poor attendance from the exhaustion of overworking yourself manifested in the inability to graduate on time.

The sky was clear with only a few rolling clouds that would pass by the moon every so often to create a dark shadow. There was no telling how you found yourself in this place exactly, maybe you just wanted to find the highest place you knew you could run to so you could be as alone as possible. Shiganshina wasn't that big of a town anyways and you still knew all the secret ways to get around.
