"I think you should come get your boyfriend." A voice says over the phone from Steve's number."What?"
"He's completely wasted. He keeps on insisting that he's fine to drive home, but clearly he's not. You better come pick him up."
"Oh shit, I'll be there soon."
Eddie drives to the house where the party guests are filtering out as it comes to an end. He parks and walks up to the house, shouldering the cold wind that's nipping at his skin.
"Where is he?" He asks a somewhat familiar face, just someone he's seen around school, but never actually talked to. It's weird the amount of people he avoided during school are people that Steve hangs out with.
"Upstairs. Puking his guts out in the guest bathroom. It's the first door on the right."
"Thanks." He replies nonchalantly. Really, he's worried about Steve, and he's uncomfortable in this atmosphere.
He comes up to the door and leans against the door frame watching Steve wipe his mouth with his sleeve. He looks absolutely wrecked but still beautiful.
"Hey, pretty boy. How ya feelin?"
"Eddie?" He attempts to get up but stumbles. Eddie helps him sit back down on the floor against the bath tub. "What are you doing here? Did someone call you? I was totally fine to drive home." He says with slurred speech.
"I'm sure you were. But I'm here now. You can come crash at my place. I'll make you feel all better." Eddie searches the cupboards for a washcloth. Once he finds one, he runs warm water on it, rings it out, kneels down beside Steve, then gently runs it over Steve's face.
"Does that feel a little better?" Eddie smiles at the sleepy male across from him.
Steve could've sworn he could take care of himself, but he liked the idea of Eddie coddling him and helping him feel better. He nods, "mhm."
"Let's get you to the car and then to bed." Eddie helps Steve stagger to his feet. He wraps Steve's arm over his shoulders and holds his hand. Eddie wraps his other arm around Steve's waist, placing his hand at his hip bone. He helps his drunken boyfriend down the stairs and to the car. Basically hoisting him up into the passenger seat and buckling him in.
He gets into the drivers side and starts the car. Steve looks at Eddie and grabs into his arm."What's the matter, princess?" Eddie asks, looking over at Steve, as Lovers Rock plays softly in the background.
"Thank you." It's fueled by the alcohol, but Steve wants Eddie to understand how much he appreciates him. "You're too good to me." He tears up.
Eddie smiles, "No, I do this because I love you, it's simple as that." Eddie places a kiss to Steve's forehead and smiles at him before putting the car into drive.
Steve holds Eddie's hand and dozes off during the short drive.
"Hey, wake up, Stevie. I'd carry you to bed if I could but sadly you're gonna have to help me out a little." Eddie shakes Steve awake, who groans in response, but eventually rolls out of the car and begrudgingly makes his way into the trailer, then Eddie's bedroom.
Steve plops down on the bed immediately.
Eddie snorts, "Let's get your shoes off and some pajamas on, then we can cuddle and go to sleep."
Steve grunts, "Too tired."
"I can help you." He pulls Steve's shoes off and tosses them by the bedroom door, "If you can wiggle out of those jeans and get your shirt off, I can grab you a clean shirt and some sweatpants, deal?"
"Sure." Steve tiredly replies. He tosses his shirt to the side and struggles, but eventually, gets his jeans off, letting them plop onto the floor.
"Here ya go, big boy." Eddie helps Steve into a megadeath shirt, which he thinks looks very cute on the other. Steve quickly puts the sweatpants on and crawls under the blanket of the bed.
"G'night, Eds. Love you." He slurs as he falls asleep almost instantly.
Eddie climbs in the bed next to the already sleeping Steve. He cradles Steve's body into his and wraps an arm around him. He takes the chance to play with Steve's hair for awhile, which Steve would never let happen if he were awake. He admires every little freckle on Steve's peaceful face. He notices the little stubble of a mustache. He smiles and kisses Steve on the forehead.
"Goodnight, Stevie. I love you too."
