Gang position explained*- 

Boss: known in some groups as leader, elder, don, oyabun, or original gangster, is the one who has control over the movement, plans, and actions of a gang.

Underboss: the second in command of the gang.

Captain: is the one who issue the command from the boss/underboss to the gangsters. Captain is responsible for the activities in the field and of the recruitment of new members.

Gangsters: also known as soldiers, soldatos, or kobun, are the typical gang members who commit the activities of the gang.

Associates: known also as gang affiliates or hang-arounds, are people who are not full members of the gang, but either support and participate in the activities of a gang, or have livelihoods tied to gang activities.
