"Good morning." I opened then narrowed my eyes at Sean and Kate. They were standing next to the bed with their hands behind their backs. "Morning..." I said cautiously. My eyes still narrowed at their innocent faces. I shook my head. "Taco Tuesday?" I asked and they laughed. They shook their heads and I sat up straight. "Happy Birthday Bailey." They said and Sean jumped on top of me. He was heavy, I couldn't breathe and tried to push him off me. We laughed and he climbed over me and sat next to me on the bed. They started singing and I couldn't help but laugh. Sean was a brilliant singer but today he wasn't. "Thank you guys." I said as they finished. They smiled at me and Kate also sat on the bed.

"Open mine first!" Sean said and handed me a small blue box. I opened it and found a charm bracelet with different little charms on it. There was an Eiffel tower, a paintbrush, a heart and a couple of others too. I slipped it onto my arm and admired it.

"Thank you Sean, it's beautiful." He smiled sweetly at me and I gave him a hug. Kate smiled and handed me a photo-sized box. "Mine now!" Kate said excitingly. I opened the box and to my surprise, got a whole stack of coupons for clothes and things. "How long did it take you to collect these?" she smiled and placed an A4 envelope on her lap. "Everyone around the precinct helped." She handed me the envelope and I opened it. "It's a gift from both of us." She said and they smiled at each other. I pulled out the documents and at the top of the page, in golden letters stood:

Adoption Approved.

"Welcome to the family." Kate said and they pulled me into a family hug. We just sat there and I cherished every second. I've always wanted a family and I finally found one. It was the best feeling in the world.

My name is Bailey, I am fifteen years old and this was my story. A story with a happy ending and a story that will last for a lifetime. For the first time ever, I don't have any worries. I have a great, new family who cares for me and loves me no matter what.

I still visit Joshua's grave every week and every single time I visit, I feel peaceful once again. It shows me that everything is the way it's supposed to be. The two lovebirds who are now my parents, are getting married! Finally...

Kate quit her job at the police station and started working at an art gallery her Dad always talked about. Sean owns a restaurant his parents left for him, and I; I am accepting every day as a gift and taking on challenges as they come my way. I'm starting at a new school in two months and I already have friends. We have people over all the time that want to help us and sponsor some money. Honestly, we're doing fine. I am a totally new person now and I have to admit, I'm really glad I finally ran away...
