Apartment searching is something I really hate with everything inside me. Do you know why?
I'm way too picky.
The apartments are either too high up in the building or too low. Too cheap or too expensive. Either it has a beautiful view, or it has a gorgeous bedroom, but with no windows. Or it's too modern or too old fashioned.
I literally feel like Goldilocks, but with no satisfaction.
I ran my hand through my hair for the millionth time today and grumbled, "I seriously need to lower my standards."
"In men? Definitely."
I look up from my personal laptop, and see Kevin smiling all innocently at me.
"What? No," I express. "I mean in my taste in apartments."
"I'm still not wrong though," he says adamantly. "Tell me, when was the last time you've dated?"
"What does that have-"
"Either the guy is too skinny or too fat," Kevin interrupts. "Too tall, too short. Too blonde, too-"
"Okay, okay," I huff. "I get it and to answer your question, I dated a guy like a month ago."
"A month ago?" Kevin asks in disbelief.
"Yeah, go ask Serge," I point my head in the direction of the office behind me. "Daniel Williams. Very sweet guy actually."
"You mean that hotshot lawyer?" Kevin asks flabbergasted.
"Yeah, him."
"And what was wrong with him?"
"He was too rich."
Kevin stares at me for a moment. A deadpan expression on his face. He's silent for what feels like moments, which in reality are only seconds.
Then he starts laughing. Hard.
"Man, you just made my day," he says, pretending to wipe a tear from his eyes. "Don't change your standards at all, Q. If you feel someone is way too rich, then they're way too rich. Do what makes you happy."
"Stop it," I laugh, nudging his feet with mine underneath the table. "I'm serious though. I can't seem to find an apartment that suits me."
"You'll find one," Kevin says almost sympathetically. "Maybe try getting back with that laywer guy. He might help you with something you've always been dreaming about."
I laugh, rolling my eyes too, before turning my attention towards the phone buzzing on my table.
"What does Hermann want?" Kevin asks, peeking over his desk to get a better view.
"Aren't you too curious," I smirk, before picking up the phone. "What's up, Hermann."
"I'm in need of your assistance," he says in greeting.
