I'm awoken to the phone ringing next to my nightstand.
It's literally just past 4 in the morning and my head is pounding against my skull. The lights from last night at the Bar hadn't done any good to me, along with the few sherry's I had to keep my voice warm.
My voice is hoarse, "Hello?"
"I need your help," I hear a girl whisper over the phone. I scrunch my eyes only a few millimetres open to see that the caller ID is unknown.
"I'm sorry, who is this?" I ask, running a hand over my hair.
"Hannah, same... Same backwards as forwards."
I'm wide awake once I recognize the statement and I sit up on my bed, "What's wrong?"
"Can you please come save me?" She pleads over the phone in a soft whisper. If I hear correctly it sounds like she might be crying.
"Where are you?" I ask, immediately grabbing the first pair of jeans I can find- which are the jeans I wore last night. I immediately start at dressing and grab a dark grey hoodie from my cabinet.
"Uhm, it looks like a motel, blue walls, top floor," she says softly and I recognize the place immediately. "But you need to come get me quickly, before he gets back, please."
I want to ask her who she's talking about, but I don't want to waste any time further.
"I'll be there in 15 minutes, just hang tight," I say. "Can you go somewhere, like a bathroom or closet?"
"There's a bathroom with a lock."
"Get in that bathroom and lock it shut," I say and I hear her start shuffling towards it, before the line goes dead.
I grab the badge and gun from my nightstand and walk my way to my father's bedroom and knock softly.
I hate to wake him at this hour, but I don't have any other choice.
Beneath the door, I see a dim light going on and my father tells me to come in.
I creak the door open slowly, "Hey, sorry to wake you."
"I was already awake," he smiles tiredly, before rubbing his eyes and a yawn escapes his lips.
Lair.
"You know Sasha from our previous case?" I ask.
"Yeah, what about her?"
"I gave her my card," I start to explain. "She called and asked for help. I don't know what happened exactly, she didn't give me any details, but she sounds really wrecked-"
"You want to go get her?" He cuts to the chase and I nod. He hums his signature low hum, before he says, "Alright, go. Take Halstead with you."
"No, I don't think that's-"
"Yes it is," he says with a tired sigh. "Call him. Tell him to go with you, because he is your partner. This is a direct order, so don't you-"
"Alright, I'm calling him," I say ever so slightly annoyed.
"Thank you," he says, even though he doesn't need to thank me for anything in particular. He moves himself back into a laying position, "Be safe and keep me posted."
I nod, before I grab my phone from my back pocket and search for his number, and close my father's door.
Jay's voice is gruff on the other end, "Hello?"
"Saint Motel, meet me there in 10," I say not bothering to return his tired greetings.
The man's clearly as confused as a chicken in a tumble dryer, but he doesn't ask any questions further. Instead I hear ruffling sounds on the other end that strongly suggests he's getting out of his bed.
