Chapter 7

"Dad! Dad! Help, Taylor won't wake up. Dad!"

What does he mean I won't get up? Hello? I'm right here.

"Shane, what happened?"

"She. Uhhh...fell in the pool. I didn't know she couldn't swim, and she didn't surface for a while. Dad, please help her!"

What the hell is going on? I'm fine. Man that was a long nap.

I slowly opened my eyes, taking in my surroundings. I found two sets of bright blue eyes, staring at me, with pure curiosity.

"Taylor? Are you alright?" The older Grayson asked.

I nodded my head, and furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. What the fuck was going on? I was about to sit up but Mr. Grayson continued, "Taylor, you fell in the pool, you almost drowned honey."

What? I fell? No, no, no! Shane fucking pushed me. I was shaking my head, trying to tell him I didn't fall, but he misunderstood.

"Taylor? Shane saved you, don't worry, you're fine. It's a good thing I came home when I did."

Oh, goodness. My mother would flip a shit if she knew what happened. I tried to sit up, but Mr. Grayson, held out his hand to stop me.

"I called your mother, she's on her way. Don't worry, she'll take you home and you can rest."

I groaned, why would he do that? Ugh. My mom is going to go crazy.

Speak of the devil.

"Lori? What happened? Are you okay? Is she okay? My baby!"

"Ms. Lewis, she's fine I assure you. She's in good hands."

"Oh, Dr. Grayson, thank you. I don't know what I would do if I lost her too."

"Too?" Shane asked.

Great, knowing my mother she would blabber out our whole life story.

"Excuse me?" She asked Shane.

"You said 'if you lost her too.' You lost someone else?"

"Oh, well...uhhh...my mother died last year, Taylor is all I have left," she replied, lying smoothly.

 "Oh, well okay."

"If you two don't mind, I'm going to take her home now. Thanks for everything," she stated.

. . .

It was Saturday afternoon, and although I was supposed to be resting before dance practice, I continued to do my homework I didn't finish the night before. Feeling thirsty, I treaded into the kitchen for a glass of water.

Just as I was about to fill my glass, the doorbell rang. Setting my glass down, I looked at my clothing. I wasn't going anywhere and it was really hot, so I had only some yoga shorts and an old t-shirt. My hair, which was normally waving out in front of me, was tied in a messy bun with strands sticking out everywhere. Cute. Real cute, Taylor.

Retying my hair quickly, and pulling my shirt down, I went to open the door, without looking who it was.

Stupid Mistake.

As soon as I swung the door open, my stomach dropped. Shane Grayson was standing on the other side of the door, smiling broadly.

"Hey," he said, "I brought your jeep over. Since your mom took you home, you left your keys and the truck at my house."
