What are the pros and cons of time travel? What are the benefits? Throughout history, time travel has been something people think about frequently. We ponder the past and wonder about the unknown future. If we could journey through time, what would be the dos and don'ts of it? Where would you go and when? Undeniably, there are many learning opportunities which are spread throughout time, and we just need to find them. Accounting for all the variables, time travel could be a very dangerous thing.

I believe that it would be greatly beneficial to time travel for research and learning what life was like for people from the past and the future. Time travel would open doors. If possible, we could alter the future and save the world and rewrite history for the better. As we traveled, we could get advice from some of the greatest minds throughout time, which would benefit all. In our travels, we would be able to see the world before people settled and destroyed most of the beautiful natural landscape. Imagine seeing the ocean, lakes, and rivers before pollution, breathing fresh air, and watching the bison running through the sea of grass where humans had never trod. Obviously, I believe it would be a wonderful learning adventure that could help us save the world. Experiencing the old world in a new world would be exhilarating.

There are many people and places throughout time that would be worthwhile or interesting. In Atlanta, Georgia, USA during the Civil War era, it would be meaningful to see how the loss of the slaves affected the lives of the plantation owners and freed slaves. Prices skyrocketed for products. Abraham Lincoln would be a perfect person to speak to and learn from. Another war I see value in witnessing would be World War, when Hitler ruled in Germany, to see how the Germans saw Adolf Hitler and what truly happened there. During the rule of the second female pharaoh, who reigned in Ancient Egypt in the year 1508 BC, Hatshepsut is said to be the most productive pharaoh; to witness what she accomplished and the power she held would wonderful. In 1341 BC Egypt, it would be beneficial to see the crowning of King Tutankhamun and learn about his short life and rule. I believe it would be fascinating to watch what happened to the people of Pompeii and the devastating destruction of their city in 79 AD. Finally, it would be wonderful to glimpse King Henry VIII and the drama of his six wives in the years of 1509 through 1547 would be a unique experience. To serenely amble through the virgin forests of England and see the wildlife untouched by people, to float down rivers without pollution, witnessing animals that are now extinct running and happy in their natural environment, that is what I want to see.

There are a few does and don'ts to time travel that are important to keep in mind. The future is fragile as a flower; it must be handled with care or else the world as we know it will collapse. I would strongly advise making sure you have substantial information, which would include when and where in time you are going because there are many variables in and around time travel. Learning the language of where you are going is important for communication and understanding the locals. Naturally, make sure you have era appropriate attire. Above all else, act according to the era you are in. Don't change major events. Try to have a tiny impact on minor ones, if none. Never tell someone from the past that you are from the future. Be careful not to get anyone killed because it could cause you or someone else to erased from history. You must also be careful not to split time and create a new universe.

Why travel through time? If given the opportunity, many would want to change the mistakes which they have made or see if they achieve their biggest hopes and dreams. Although the future is an unknown mystery and the past a curiosity, there is something special about right now, the present. What we have now isn't something to idiotically ignore or pretend doesn't matter. Continuously appreciate the past, enjoy the present and look forward to the future before you try to change anything. Trusting all things have a purpose even if we cannot see it, it is there. Our mistakes are what make us who we are, time travel may aid us in learning, but it is by us living and working that makes our story grow.
