"She's killed around forty of my high raking soldiers and two other generals, I would have been the third if I hadn't been informed about her" Elliot nipped at whoever he was talking too.
The fog in brain slowly began to clear as the memory of what had happened to me came flooding back. My body stiffened as fear creeped over me, only a little but enough to make all my senses become heightened, more aware of every choice I made.
I tried to open my eyes but they had been bound with a garb of fabric along with my legs and arms. The coldness of my hidden blades no longer pressed against me, I was utterly defenseless and stuck.
"Well she didn't, so all is well. I've handled my end of the bargain, you have her so give me what I am owed" a man replied to Elliot. Something about the voice sounded familiar, like I had heard it before although I couldn't quite place it.
Footsteps thudded on the old oak floor of the room, followed by the the sound of drawer opening and slamming shut. "Here take this, it will guarantee you and your peoples peace will stay intact. You will receive no bother from Mercadia." Elliot scoffed, disgust lingering of his tongue.
I wondered who he was talking to? There had been so many nations, much like my own who had been over taken by Mercadia or at the very least attacked by them. The mans accent, was not one I had ever heard before, it was thick and rich and sounded ancient.
"What will you do with her?" The mystery man asked Elliot. I stilled, pretending to still be unconscious, feeling their gaze settle one me.
"Put her in a prison to rot, execute her, perhaps I will send her with you to your lands. I have been told that you have the most brutal prisons in existence . Either way I do not care what happens to her, or her kind, only that she suffers for what she did."
"Who is she and why does she hate you so much? or I suppose the better question would be Where is she from?" the other man asked and I could swear that pity lingered in his voice.
Elliot simply laughed in return, that sickly evil laugh that had haunted my dreams for years before stating, with not an ounce of emotion " She is from Scoro, a retched country by all accounts. Cant you tell by looking at her?" I felt there eyes fall on me once again.
It took ever bit of strength I had not to scream and curse at him, how dare he be so nonchalant about it all. The things he and his soldier done to the people of my nation was abhorrent, vile disgusting. The slaughter and blood he spilled seemed like it was never ending. Screams and wails of mothers whom children had been killed or lovers who had been torn apart still haunted my dreams.
The images of my family being killed haunted even my waking moments, a sorrow that followed me everywhere no matter where I went or how fast I tried to out run them.
The men had been apparently talking the whole time, my mind to busy being engulfed by rage and grief to hear what they had been talking about. because the next thing I knew the men were agreeing on some unheard deal and my blindfold was being ripped off. Blinding light stung at my eyes.
"Ah so you are awake. Good you're coming with me, get up now." that mystery man demanded all while untying my restraints.
As my eyes adjusted to the sudden change in lighting I began to make out his face. It was the man from the ball, the one who had asked me to dance. What the hell was going on and why was he working for Elliot of all people? I stumbled to my feet, my head still thundering from being smacked - by whatever it was . The mystery man walked out of the door and I suppose I was expected to follow him.
Elliot sat in an armchair at the other side of the room, his copper hair slicked back which matched his slimy personality perfectly. He had a cruel, smug smile plastered across his face. His icy blue eyes screaming I won you silly little girl. That familiar feeling of rage began to bubble up in my stomach, It took every bit of self control I could muster up, to not pick the letter opener that lay on his desk and gouge his eyes out with it.
