Chapter 3: The Prophecy and The Sorrow
Kanut walked aimlessly, feeling lost and alone. He needed to be away from the prying eyes of others, away from the judgments and whispers. He knew people were talking about him, and he couldn't stand it. He needed to clear his mind and figure out his next move.
Unbeknownst to him, Liv was nearby, hidden by the tent, and she had heard the whole conversation between Kanut and Guthrum. Sighing, Liv decided it was best to give Kanut some space and time to cool down. In the meantime, she went to see the seer, hoping to find some answers to the questions swirling in her mind.
As Liv walked into the seer's hut, she found Hytrin in her usual vision-like state, seemingly lost in her thoughts. "I know she is with child, I can feel it," Hytrin said suddenly, her voice low and haunting. "He is so close to them, I can taste their blood. It's heavy, and it's sweet."
Liv shuddered, feeling a pang of fear in her heart. Hytrin's visions were always eerie and unsettling, but she trusted her instincts and believed that the seer held the answers she sought.
Hytrin's chanting soon stopped as she noticed Liv had entered her hut.
"Liv, what brings you here this evening?" Hytrin asked, her voice soft and gentle. "Come, have a seat." She gestured to a chair by the fire.
Liv went to take a seat as Hytrin brought her a cup of herbal tea. "Thank you," Liv said gratefully, taking a sip of the warm liquid.
"So what brings you here, my child?" Hytrin asked, settling down across from Liv. "It's very rare that you pay visits."
"I... I need your guidance, Lady Hytrin." Liv said hesitantly, feeling a mix of nervousness and anticipation. "I have made many mistakes, both me and Kanut. Both of our families died in front of us, losing my child, and now I fear for what might happen to him as well. He is in pain, and I fear he's losing himself. That's why I need to ask gods, what lies in store for us." Liv says as Hytrin looks at her with a saddened face.
"My child, breath. Let go of all the pain that grips your heart and soul." Hytrin says. "That is where the heaviness lies." She states.
"I want to know, what awaits Kanut, where does his destiny lie?" Liv says.
"I want to know what awaits Kanut, where does his destiny lie?" Liv inquired.
"You are his destiny. You are the love of his life. But something holds you both back from truly loving each other. It is wicked and corrupt, and one of you must destroy it before it destroys you. However, you must heal. Let go of your hurt and pain, and forgive each other. Only then will the gods show you your true destiny," Hytrin replied solemnly.
"But who is? How will we know?" Liv asked.
"That, my child, is for you to discover," Hytrin responded.
"But do we have a chance, can we be happy and love each other?" Liv questioned.
"Only if you heal. The gods will give you the strength to do so. Embrace your destiny, and you will find peace. Kanut is strong. He has been by your side even in your darkest moments. He will overcome his struggles and grow stronger. Although you've both lost loved ones, you are still carrying the burden. To move forward, you must forgive each other and yourselves," Hytrin advised. Her words make Liv see the future right in front of her.
"A sign of sorrow awaits you, Lady Liv. But with that sorrow comes a gift, a gift of joy that will light up your life. You must be ready, for you and Kanut will face obstacles and hardships yet to come. But remember this... the gods always have a plan, even if we cannot see it clearly."
