Elain had rejected her mating bond with Lucien weeks ago. Growing frustrated with Azriels inability to pick up on her hints, she had asked him to court her. They had gotten to know one another without fear and restraint. She made him promise to always communicate with her, no matter how difficult things might get. She understood that it will take him time to change his suppressing nature, but she would wait as long as he needed her to. But to Elain's surprise, he had come up with a way the very next day, in the form of a letter.
Azriel has been courting Elain for a year. She could have never fathomed that she would ever find love, this type of love. Azriel alone saw her the way she had always wanted to be seen and loved. He was her prayers answered, her wants met, her cravings satisfied, her soul's other half, her person, her home. She was going to ask him to marry her, to be hers for the remainder of their immortal lives. She had baked his favorites for him, wore his favorite dress, and had gotten him a gift. She was eagerly waiting for him to return home but there was still time for sundown. So she sat at the window, awaiting his return when a letter appeared on her lap.
Elain married Azriel two weeks ago, she did not get enough of him. They were even more inseparable after their ceremony. He unexpectedly had to leave for Illyria as he got word that the men planned to clip the female's wings again. He, Rhysand, and Cassian had left so abruptly. He had told her to stay with Feyre while he was gone, they were not sure how long it would be but he had sent her a letter every couple of hours so that she wouldn't worry.
"Is that another letter from Az?" Feyre asked smirking.
"I never took Azriel for a lovesick fool." Nesta laughed.
Elain turned pink, "It's his way of reassuring me." she said defensively.
"It's romantic." Nesta quickly added noticing Elain's obvious annoyance. "I wish Cassian would write me, I am just left wondering."
"What does it say El?" Feyre asked, changing the subject.
"That they won't be back tonight." She replies sadly.
"Is that all?" Nest presses, eyes narrowed with mischief.
"Yes. The rest is for my eyes only." Elain says shyly.
Elain has been away helping Nesta with her newly born baby. Azriel could not take anymore. All Nesta and Cassian did was fuck, while Elain looked after their baby. Azriel refused to stay there, he had heard enough of that at the house of wind. He felt bad for Elain, but she had wanted to help her sister and he could not refuse her. But this? This was too much. They were taking advantage of her kindness. He also could not go another day without Elain, he was not used to sleeping without her. So he sent word, that he would pick her up tonight.
