“So Ntando’s wedding is on Easter Sunday. We have to be there and we also need outfits. Are you going to sort out the outfits or should I handle them?” Asante asks as she loves around the kitchen. I think my new favourite thing is watching her prepare breakfast or any type of meal. She looks so sexy with that six pack on display.

“Aren’t you part of the bridal party?” I enquire and she shakes her head.
“It’s only going to be the best man, maid of honour and the ring bearers. Minimal and elegance. I think that’s one of the themes.”
“Okay. I will sort out the outfits but don’t worry, I won’t get you a suit with a Tutu skirt to match my dress.”
She snorts. “If you were to ever do that, I would legit take your dress and let you wear that hideous suit.”

I laugh my ass out. I think I would die if I were to see her wearing a dress. Not that she wouldn’t look good in it but that would definitely damage my eyes for life. “Haybo, you in a dress? I think you just damaged my brain forever.”
She chuckles, shaking her head. “Well you are about to be really damaged. The couple will be doing a joint bachelor party. The theme is ‘SWITCH IT UP’. I will be wearing one of your skimpy dresses and you will choose any of my outfits.”

I look at her with my eyes popped out and then just break into laughter. “OMG! I’m picturing you in a dress and I’m just not seeing it. Jue will also be participating? And Lefa? My God, do you guys actually want us to party that night or just laugh at your exposed masculinity all the time? Who even came up with this theme?” I’m even wiping my tears of laughter at this point.

“I am glad you find it funny. You will have to fill me up because there will also be a contest.”
“Mara why is the wedding so far?” I ask, still laughing. I can’t help it. Lefa is the worst though. Can someone speed up the days?
“What’s so funny mommy?” Lisa asks walking in. She comes to give ne a hug and I perk her lips.
“Just an inside joke. So how was your night? Did you dream of me?”

She smiles. “I dreamt the older version of me was playing for Lyon. I scored a goal and you cheered the loudest from the family section.”

“That’s so cool baby. Now that you have dreamt it, we will turn it into a goal and make it a reality.” I hug her once again.  I know that she can achieve whatever she puts her mind into. And I also know that as her mother, I should be her number one supporter and validate her dreams.

“Don’t worry, angel. Your mom and I will turn those dream into reality. Just you wait and see.” Asante winks before continuing with the cooking.

“Let’s go chat outside baby.” I pull Lisa to the patio. “So, as you know, Asante and I are in a relationship and we want to take it to the next level. So she asked us to move in with her. You and me. I said I won’t give her a straight answer until I have spoken to you. So what do you think? Is it too soon maybe? You still wanna know more about her before we live with her?”

She smiles. “She makes you happy, ma, and that makes me happy. She is a great person and she loves soccer, so it’s a bonus. I wouldn’t mind moving in. Plus, I already have my customised room here.” She winks.
I chuckle. “Somehow, I knew that would convince you. So I think we can move in month end. It gives us two weeks to pack our stuff and sort out everything else.”

“So does this mean you guys will be getting married?” what a nosy kid.
“I guess so. Well she did give me a promise ring.” I show her the ring and she giggles. “So after she asks permission from grandpa and grandma, we will get married.”
“And you will be Mrs. Chiya?”

“Yes. Now let’s go back to tell Asante the good news.”
“Will I be getting any little brothers or sisters soon?” she asks as we step inside the kitchen and Asante looks up.
“Do you want little siblings? Please note that they will take away most of your alone time with your mommy.” She chirps in.

Lisa shrugs. “I think it would be cool having a small baby running around. I also wanna be a big sister and all.”
“Maybe you will get that soon from Kayla.”
“Are we going to their wedding?” she asks with a hopeful smile.
I frown. The date has been set already? How do I not know this? “You know the date?”
“Yes. Daddy called yesterday and told me to tell you to check your email but the wedding is on 9 April.”

“Easter Sunday?” she nods. “Baby I already have a wedding to attend on that day. Asante’s friend is getting married and she is also my friend, so I have to be there.” Her face falls and I feel so bad right now.
“Don’t worry striker. Your mother will make sure you will be the best dressed in that wedding. You will even outshine the bride.” Asante tickles her and she laughs.

I have to ask Ndoni to accompany her just so she can have someone to cater to her needs. Now how am I going to politely decline this invite without sounding like a jealous ex or something?

Monday morning, I’m at work when Zonke just rocks up unannounced. She is dressed like she is attending a high class event. Even her make up is on point. She blows a kiss my way before browsing through the bookshelves. I laugh. What on earth is happening? She finally picks a book in the cooking section and comes to the counter.

“Good morning dear. I would like an Americano with 2 giant mixed spice biscuits, and of course this book.” Even her English and tone is posh.
“Are you by any chance invited to the Real Housewives of Joburg recruitment luncheon?”

She flicks her weave. “Is that today? I had no idea.” I laugh and she rolls her eyes. “Okay. I’m on my way there but they are the ones who approached me by the way. Anyways let’s talk about that metal with a small gem on your right hand. What’s the story? One minute you were crying over your near dead relationship, the next you shove a picture of that with really hot abs.” she takes my right hand and I giggle.

“I grovelled friend. Turns out she saw me flirting with that guy. Shit went sideways. So I had to humble myself and apologize because I was wrong. So after dinner, she gave me this promise ring and asked me to move in with her.”

“Woah.” She takes out her shades. “That just went from a zero to a 180 real fast. How do you go from ignoring me to semi proposing and moving in together? What humbling shit did you do?” I giggle.
“I broke into her house, cooked dinner and then made her come, real hard.”

She squeals. “So that’s the secret to getting everything? Breaking and entering? Cooking nice dinner? Making them come? Noted. Thanks for the lesson. Gotta bounce.” She kisses my cheek and then fleas. I snort and shake my head after her. Seems like the RHOJ will bring out her dramatic side.
