By the time we get to the club, I have had my fair share of laughs. We are riding in a minibus which the squad hired for the night. The whole drive, Jue was sitting at the front and wearing headphones. She has drama for days. When we enter, I realize that 80% of the crowd is women. Lesbians to be precise. This waiter leads us to a VIP area and we head there while our bride and bride to be go to greet some of the guests.

“I’m not dancing tonight.” Asante announces as we sit down and I chuckle.
“But I wanna see you shake that ass.” I respond, licking my lips and she rolls her eyes.
“Keep this up and I will take back my clothes before the night ends.” I just laugh.

“Okay. Let’s just get this party started so that you will all stop sulking and start having fun at your buddy’s bachelor party.” Zee declares and we all agree with her. She orders a dozen of shots and we all take one just to set the mood. Our guests of honour for the evening have also joined us. Then we order food and a lot of booze.

“Good to see you guys loosening up.” Ntando states with a wide smile as they join us. “How are you liking Port Alfred, Thingo?” they all look at me.
“Am I the only one here who is visiting Port Alfred for the first time?” I ask and they all nod. “Well I’m liking everything so far, especially the view in our beautiful hotel. I can honestly imagine doing a photoshoot by the river or the pool.”

“Great. I heard your daughter signed with Chalet Jaguars. How do you feel about it and how is she liking the team so far?” Lefa asks. Is it interrogate Thingo night again? But I have nothing to hide.

“Ecstatic. I don’t think I have ever experienced real happiness until the day Lisa came back from her first real game which I attended. She was over the moon. She called all of our close relatives just to brag about the game. She hasn’t complained about any ill-treatment so I think it’s all good so far.”

“You are such a great mother. But let’s stop all this motherhood talk before we get emotional. Let’s play our first game while we are still sober. Tell us your celebrity crush. Can it not end like last time?” Nakhane pleads and they all laugh, well except for me.

Zwolunga smiles at me. “Don’t feel left out. We played this game last year on one of our outings and Ngomso said her celebrity crush was Hope Mbhele. Problem was the following weekend they were both at the same link up and Nakhane went insane after seeing a picture of them together. She moved out, blocked Ngomso and just went AWOL. Yoh, we all had to suffer that month looking for her.”

I chuckle. “And what happened when you found her?”
“I was over it because I knew it was just a picture but now I was ashamed of my overreaction. I am such a drama queen. So I got over it after a week and I was just embarrassed to go back after that.” Nakhane replies with a shy smile.

“I hope we don’t have that tonight. It is all about celebrating our beautiful friends, Ntando and Thaba. Now how about I go first? I will give you hints and you guess it. Whoever that has most guesses will get to pick and master second game.” Oratile announces, standing up. She looks so cute right now in Bulo’s vest and basketball shorts with Jordan’s. “Thingo, if no one can guess your crush, you get a point.” I nod. “Okay. She is a dark beauty, one of her famous songs is Dali and she has the cutest smile ever.”

“Dibs!” Zee shouts and we all look at her. “her song is yabona wena dali, right?” Oratile nods. “It’s Nkosazana Daughter. I love her dimples though. She is super cute.” Oratile winks at her and then sits down. “Okay, I will just get right to it. She is an Australian model, is also a disk jockey and has played in The Meg, Pitch Perfect 3, John Wick and many more.” We all go quiet while Jue groans.

“Dibs. I swear to God, if she were to come to SA, I would make sure to have her gunned down at the airport before my wife can get the chance to meet her.” Jue mumbles while Zee giggles. “It’s that stud, Ruby Rose.”
