"Tell me, please," Alex pulled a cup of tea towards him and sprinkled sugar from a sachet into it. "Did Elektra happen to be looking for a job?"
"As far as I know, no."
"Did you know that she had a work visa?"
"No, what does that mean?"
"That her visa was paid for by the company. After the contract was terminated, she would soon have to leave the country or find another employer who would sponsor her. You said she wasn't looking for another job."
Eva looked down at the table and silently sat, lost in deep thoughts.
"Eva, it's not easy for me to talk about this, and maybe I'm wrong. But it's highly likely that Elektra did not plan to stay in the country for long. I'm really sorry."
Eva tried to hold back her tears, but it was futile.
"Answer me one question," Alex lowered his voice. "Just take your time, don't rush. Do you want to try to find her?"
Eva wiped a tear from her cheek with a swift motion and didn't answer.
"Eva, I don't know of any easy way to do this, since she's not responding herself. But if you believe there's something worth fighting for, then you can give it a shot."
"One last time," Eva sobbed. "I'll try to find her one last time. If she disappears without a word again, so be it."
"Alright. Listen, I don't know where she is, but since she took all her belongings, I can assume that she went back home."
"To Greece?"
"Yes. Of course, I don't have her Greek address. The only thing I know is that she studied in Thessaloniki. I'll send you a link to her faculty. I'll also send the name of her supervisor; he probably has her Greek phone number or some contacts, but he may not give them to you. It's up to your luck."
"How did you find it? I searched all over Google!"
"I googled in Greek."
"Just brilliant..." Eva gazed at the phone in disbelief, scrolling through the information she received.
