Everything had went wrong. Fire had engulfed the place as agents charged into the remaining battle. Most of the damage was done and taken by the infamous but admired, Lockwood&Co. Currently, in a haze of smoke, Lucy Carlyle's eyes fluttered open feeling a tremendous ache in her chest. The noise of voices, boots slapping against floor, the ragged breaths of the fire - ravaged her skull and made it shudder in her head. They were close enough almost too close, Lucy feared she'd get trodden over like a fallen jockey during the grand national. One particular voice was heard above the chaos.
"Lucy!" The usual peaceful, well kept tone of Anthony Lockwood was forgotten as he cried out in fear. "Lucy!" Another cry and it made her heart bleed.
"Lockwood!" She called back, coughing after she did feeling her lung protest the environment she was under. She groaned, almost wept as she pushed up on her forearms. One was bleeding, ripped to shreds by the close contact to the blast. Of course, salt doesn't feel very nice in wounds. "Lockwood" She sniffled, tears running without shame. Her voice had quivered, breath was sucked through her teeth as she paced herself for self inflicted pain trying to sit up.
"Oh thank God" Lockwood's voice came like a comforting breeze on a hot day. As Lucy tore her eyes in the direction she heard it and smiled in relief. She watched, as the everything was surrounded in white smoke, sparks of light coming from distance fires, the flash of someone's rapier against the light. Deprac's vehicle lights, making the sky turn blue and red like the end times. Lockwood, entered her sight like a dark angel out of heaven, his coat flapping as he ran. His hair tossed as he moved easily, a grin bigger and more shinning than one she'd ever seen.
"Lucy, my Lucy, there you are" He said breathless with relief, watching her struggle to stand, inpatient to see him. He'd barely slowed to a stride when they were a feet from one another and without thinking, he wrapped his arms around her.
"Oh I thought-" She choked, pushing up on her toes, so her arm took the full length of his shoulders and the other could comb through the back of his hair. She felt him lean his face closer to hers, skin cool and calm the sea.
"I'm here Luce" He murmured, "I've got you, you did so well" He swallowed a lump growing in his throat, as he flattened his hands on her back. "I thought the same thing"
"You found me, that's all that matters" She sniffed as delicately as she could. " I could smack you up the side of the head for running off" She pulled back and put both of her hands on either side of her face. "We face hell together, remember?"
He took in a breath, as fire extinguishers blasting into the small remaining fires and cleared the air slight. The atmosphere stirred as any ghostly remnants were long gone and now all was left was clean up. Lockwood looked at her steadily and the defensive regiment of his actions melted as her lip trembled and a watery sheen covered her eyes.
"Alright" He nodded, voice barely a whisper. "I'll take you everywhere" He pressed his forehead against hers, seeing her grin. "Come on Luce, get those arms seen too-" Lucy cut him off, guiding his mouth to hers with little to no effort because he wanted to go. Their lips met, everything and everyone around became like apparitions blurred and distant and entirely unimportant. Lucy felt him sigh into her, arms wrapping tightly around her ribs flushing her to him. Lucy's bloodied arms, stained his white shirt as she felt her self pushing up on her toes to the point of being a ballerina in combat boots. After some good long seconds, she pulled back feeling him move toward her not wanting to separate.
"I'm in a lot of pain" She put her hands on his chest and it snapped him out of it. He took her hand gingerly.
"Well if you wanted to kiss me so much, you can't be that bad" He grinned  "Either way, lets get you seen too"
