George's brown eyes watched over Meghan as she slept in the hospital bed. It had been a particular long day and it was growing longer and longer as each minute felt lke a lifetime. He was waiting for the doctor to return to give her the all clear to go home. He knew deep down she'd do better there, in her own comfy bed with all her pillows and blankets surrounding her. The scent of tea and toast to make her appatite to return not to mention a cheeky biscuit to dip. He could see it, him handing her, her favoured round shaped mug that warmed her hands and made her do that smile that reached right up to her eyes.

Lockwood and Lucy had nipped downstairs to the small cafe for some form of a hot drink to keep them functioning. Lockwood was getting restless, pacing like a demented bear in the room, Lucy knew it was because he felt guilty, so offered to take him for a tea and to get them all one. George was left alone, with his girl. There was more damage to her body than she was originally letting on. As always, 'the tough girl' . George smiled, letting his hand lower to stroke her arm. She was cold to the touch and he hated that. Meghan was famously warm, no matter what they were doing or what the weather was like, she was warm and when she touched you it seeped into your skin like sunlight. Now she was cold, almost freezing and with her eyes closed it gave a morbid picture.
The private room door opened and clicked shut gently. The sounds of heeled nice shoes off of the sheet vinyl flooring was recognisable. Barnes.

"How she doing?" He asked, putting his hands in his coat pockets. George took in a breath, raising his eyes to the other side of the room and looked at the inspector.

"I was hoping they'd let her leave tonight but, they weren't happy with a few things" He responded honestly, putting a hand through his hair nearly knocking off his glasses in the process. Barnes nodded, noting the exhausted expression on the teenager.

"She's a class act, put up a good fight" Barnes pulled out the spare chair and took a seat, George said nothing just looked at her again. "I have news" Barnes plucked off his hat and placed it on his knee.

"I supposed as much" George leaned back into his chair feeling a strain in his back from how he'd been sitting. "You aren't known for visiting us for your pleasure, Inspector Barnes" the older man chose to ignore the last comment and continue.

"The men that Ms Ionescu fought tonight where not only underworld black market dealers and Relic Men. But on DEPRAC's hit list, they'd been looking for a way to bust that ring up for years now. Of course Lockwood & CO managed to deal with it in a single evening." A slight sardonic smile covers the man's face.
