A young man is neglected by his family is dropped off at an orphanage then finds a monster not far from the orphanage grounds and the two make a contract now the two are tied in a world saving journey.

Austin was with Gao by some benches with Drum who's still in his original form and Demios who is in his smaller form, Austin was watching Gao struggle with making a deck.
Demios: Fang Slade.
Drum aka Fang Slade: Yes Demios.
Demios: You'll need to change your form to look like mine, its the rule here on Earth you can return to your original form when your in a buddy fight but not any time sooner, also the only reason Jack didn't change form is because he works with the buddy police and he's famous.
Drum: Well if those are the rules.
Drum then transformed into a smaller form of himself.

Austin: You don't know how to build a deck do you Gao?
Gao: No, I never have to build a deck before.
Austin sighed and brought out a toolbox that was filled with Buddy Fight cards from Dragon World he then made a deck of the cards Gao had with him and the cards he had in his toolbox.
Austin: My deck building skills isn't on Baku's level but this should give you a fighting chance against Tasuku, now what do you know about BuddyFight?
Gao: I know the basic stuff about it.
Austin: Alright that saves us time let's go over the cards that I placed in your deck.
Drum: Is your buddy always like this?
Demios: No when I met him three years ago, he was nothing like this.
Drum: What was he like back then?
Demios then whispered in Drum's ear and when Demios was done whispering Drum was shocked.
Drum: His family just disowned him at the orphanage for no reason.
Demios: Yes, they did I checked with the caretaker of the orphanage and his story matched Austin's story; I don't why they did that, but I know if they ever crossed paths again Austin won't be happy to see them and won't show them mercy for leaving him like that.
Drum: In a BuddyFight or a real fight?
Demios: A BuddyFight.
Later on the school roof the group of four exited the stairway.
Gao: Man I'm starving before we eat I got to check something.
Gurgling sounds came out of nowhere startling Gao.
Drum: Was that your stomach or mine?
Gao: Who cares we got to ger back inside.
Drum: I'm hungry.
Gao: I can't explain it, but if you want to eat we have to get back inside.
Baku: (Leans up from the bench he was sleeping on) Leaving so soon, don't tell me you forgot our bet already, what's on the menu today?
