Katherine's Land

Chapter 5

"How did you get here? How do you know where I am?" I ask again.

                "Fine I will tell you. I'm your sister, Clarisse. Listen to me, Katherine. The world is in danger. You are the only one who will know how to save us." she pleas. Then I see it. She looks like my sister, Clarisse. She is my sister. I reach in and hug her. I start to cry. I haven't seen my family in years. To think I almost tried to kill her. We stand there hugging in silence for a minute. I wipe the tears away.

                "What do you mean? How am I supposed to know? I've been gone from humanity for ten years." I say looking down.

                "Come on Katherine. You have to know. Our parents had the secret. That's why the government killed them. Whatever they hid, the government didn't want the public to know." Clarisse says.

                "Why do you think I know, Clarisse? Just because I watched them die doesn't mean I know! I don't even know what's happening." I shout. I'm getting angry at her.

                "Katherine you're acting ridiculous! Do you know how much it took me to get here! To find you! I was worried for ten years that you were dead when I found our parents died, because you were with them!" she shouts.

                "Then how come an airship can pass. What did you do to get here? Because now everything can pass when I could only be here, alone forever." I yell.

                "I broke the spell to hide you here. Ok." Clarisse yells back. She sits by a tree and waves in my direction. "Come sit. It's time for you to know what happened." I sit down next to her.

                "Ok tell me." I turn to watch her.

                "Ok. When I heard our parents died, I knew that something would happen. They said when they died, they would send you a spirit to grant you three wishes. With the spirit's wishes you had to be exiled away, safe from all of this. The wishes were permanent when you turn sixteen. So when I heard, I knew I had lost you, but I didn't give up. I did everything I could. Soon I had gave up. Then a rebellion began. People who knew our parents found out. They had figured out that the government had killed them for a secret. They got angry and turned on the government. Soon people followed the action. Our country was on the brink of revolution. I realized I could change this. I could save millions of people from dying. But then I realized I can end the government with the secret. I didn't know the secret. The only person I could've think then who could know the secret, was you. I found someone who could reverse the exiled spell. It was reversed. I came looking for you everywhere. When the government found out I was looking for you, they tried to look for you two. If they found you, we would both be killed. So, know you know." I stay silent. I try to compose this.

                "Do you have any idea what the secret could be?" I say.

                "No. Have you used are three wishes?" Clarisse sighs.

                "I have only used two. My birthday is in a week by the way." I have one wish left. We sit there in the darkness. Maybe I could bring back my parents. They could help us. "I could wish for our parents to come back to life."

                "I don't know. What would they do to help our world from falling apart?" she asks. She's right. What would they do? After that no one talks. We just stare. I put my head on Clarisse's shoulder. I close my eyes. Soon we both fall asleep.
