The brightness of the streetlights blinded her when she stepped outside her house. The cold wind blew against her face, making her want to jump back inside the house underneath her blankets, warm and save, but her desire to leave was somehow bigger than her hesitation to stay. So, she left. Breathe in. Breathe out. She could do this, and she certainly would.
Her feet carried on walking, the bags under her (e/c) eyes becoming more visible as time progressed. Just three kilometres left, she thought. Only three kilometres. She looked up at the sky, hoping to see stars, but big gray clouds blocked the twinkling lights. It was like a metaphor for her life, and it made her smile to herself, thinking about how stupid this idea was, how it would only make things worse and wonder what in the world made her think this would help. But she couldn't go back now. It was too late.
When she arrived at the small train station she was so happy. Step one had been accomplished, and running away from home never seemed so easy to her before. Until it started to rain.
Her whole body was shaking from the cold and she cursed softly under her breath at the train station for not having shelters to wait under. She hurriedly pulled the hood of her, well, hoody over her head and rummaged around the small (f/c) backpack she brought, in the hope she had been smart enough to take her umbrella with her.
And then she suddenly stopped as she realised the rain had stopped falling. Could this possibly God's mercy, she asked herself while slowly looking up.
Oh. An umbrella?
She looked up at the person holding the umbrella, slightly embarrassed but also slightly intrigued, who could this man be?
She stood up straight and looked at him, and he looked back. They were staring, even though they didn't notice. It was like nothing was moving, time didn't exist and they were captured, captivated by each other's gaze. They were staring and everything seemed to fall in...
In place.
Everything seemed to fall in place, and they did too. They fell, they both fell deeply, unbelievably. In love.
"Hey," the guy said, his teal eyes wandering off to the side. His voice was deep and rough -attractive even. It fit him perfectly.
"H-hi," she stuttered, mentally cursing herself for stuttering. "And also thanks. I'm (f/n)." She held out her hand, a bit impractical considering the close proximity to each other.
He took it anyways. "I'm Sousuke," he replied, followed by a silence. "I know it's none of my business, but what's a girl like you doing on a train station at," he looked at his watch, "two in the morning?
She laughed, a tinge of sadnes present in her voice as she said, "I don't know anymore, honestly." She combed her fingers through her hair and shook her head, as if she tried to shake of her thoughts. "What about you?"
Awkwardly shifting from one side to the other he replied, "I was just on the way back home."
"Oh." She frowned a bit before going on. "And you gave up being in a warm and dry home for standing in the rain under a small umbrella with a girl you dont know?" She chuckled. "I hope you're not some pervert."
"Oh then I guess I shouldn't invite you into my warm and dry house then?" He grinned, one eyebrow cocked up.
Her sweet genuine laugh rung in his ears, and Sousuke knew for sure the raining would stop after the angelic sound echoed through the neighbourhood. He was pulled back to reality when she punched his arm playfully.
"I really wouldn't mind being somewhere with at least a roof right now, though," she sighed. "If you don't mind..?"
"Sure," he shortly answered.
It was still raining.
