"Sorry about earlier," Anika says as she sits down at the table next to me, patting my back. "It's okay. I guess it makes sense for them to suspect me." I smile so that she knows I'm fine. We were all at Sam's apartment for a sleepover, excluding Ethan since he had class.
"Sorry Lauren," I hear Chad apologize from the children as they walk toward us at the dining table. All of us were sitting down. "At least we're having a sleepover with the core five!" Chad says it excitingly. Mindy gave her brother a judgy look, and I chuckled.
Sam cleared her throat, and we all looked towards her; she looked nervous. "I've been sleeping with the cute boy next door," Sam says, and we all look at each other. My mouth dropped in surprise. "I knew it!" Tara and I exclaimed at the same time, and then we high-fived each other.
"I think we all should high-five, since we are the core five," Chad suggests. I smirked and put my hand out to the middle of the dining table, saying, "Core five." Chad smiles, and everyone else except Anika puts their hand out, and we all laugh. Sam's phone started ringing, and Tara, being beside her, saw it was a cute boy from next door, Danny. "It's a cute boy," Tara says teasingly.
Sam puts her phone down and says, "I'll call him back later," with a smile. We all laugh and tease her about it, and then we hear some interesting noises from Quinn's room. "Quinn and her new man are getting at it again," Tara says, and I cover my mouth in laughter. "Get into it," Mindy says, and we all laugh until we all suddenly get a notification from our phones.
"Oh no, fuck!" I curse as I look at the notification on my phone-a picture of Ghostface killing Quinn. We hear Quinn screaming for help as we all run towards her room. We stopped in front of her door once the screaming stopped, and we all stared fearfully at each other. The door suddenly bursts open, with Quinn's bloody body being thrown onto Anika. "Shit!" I screamed in horror.
We started running everywhere. Tara and Chad ran out of the apartment, leaving the rest of us with the killer. "Mindy!" Anika yells as she sees Mindy's arm getting cut by Ghostface. She tries to fight Ghostface to get him away from Mindy.
Unfortunately, Anika is grabbed by Ghostface, and he starts to choke her and push her against a wall. I run to the kitchen with Sam as we try to find weapons, and we realize all of the knives are gone. "Where the fuck are the knives?" Sam curses, and we look at each other.
Anika shreiks in pain as Ghost Face penetrates her abdomen with his knife. Sam grabs the knife holder and smacks him with it, making him fall down. "Grab Mindy," Sam says as she helps move Anika. I grab Mindy and follow Sam into Quinn's room. We set Mindy and Anika on the bed and tried to block the door. Ghostface was too strong for me, so Sam helped push a dresser to block the door.
"Check the bathroom door," Sam says, and I walk in to see Quinn's man in a bloody bathtub. "Holy shit!" I jump backwards and look up to see Ghostface outshining the door. My eyes widen, and I rush to close the door. He bangs harshly on the door as I successfully lock it. I lean back against the door because he is still trying to break it down.
Sam looks out the window to see a cute boy, Danny, as I try to hold the door. Danny extends a ladder to the window so that Sam can place it on the window, making a bridge for us to cross. "Someone needs to go first, quick!" Sam says.
Sam went first; Mindy was supposed to be next, but she insisted that I and Anika go before. "Go first, please," Anika pleads as she tries to get Mindy to go first, still bleeding out. Mindy shakes her head in disapproval. "I'll be right behind you, I promise," Anika says, and then they kiss passionately.
After Mindy crosses and enters Danny's room, Anika crawls to the ladder. She groans in pain as she crosses; the wound is really deep. "Come on, Anika!" We scream as we try to get her to cross. While she was midway on the ladder, we heard the door break down and saw Ghostface behind the window. We stare at him behind Anika.
"Guys?" Anika says until she is cut off by Ghostface grabbing the ladder and he starts shaking it. Anika screams in fear. Anika grips onto the ladder, desperately trying to keep her balance as Ghostface continues to shake it.
We all scream, and Sam reaches her hand out so that Anika can grab her. "Baby, I don't want to die," Anika cries out. Their hands were so close, but then Ghostface lifted the ladder to one side, causing Anika to lose balance. We watch in shock as Anika falls off the ladder, hitting her head on the dustbin.
Sam and I look at each other while Mindy is fixated on her dead girlfriend below. We then turn towards the opposite window to see Ghostface pick up his knife and walk away. My face was stained with blood, sweat, and tears. My breaths start to become deeper and shorter, and tears form again. Anika, the only friend who trusted me, is now gone.
