TITUS ||

The hospital room was pure fucking chaos, which wasn't helping with my anxiety over the whole ordeal.

Malachi and Mathias doing their best to stabilize my mate as a handful of nurses hold him down in order to strap him to the hospital bed because he continued to thrash so violently that he broke his arm, which wasn't healing on it's own at all.

The smell of wolfsbane choking everyone in the room so badly that Mathias ordered some of the staff to bring in one of our heavy duty chemical vaporizers to rid the air of the poison.

Once Mell had gotten strapped down, the nurses got to work with setting up an IV in his arm and starting a line of pain killers, antibiotics and specialized steroids to help his leg heal faster.

Next they shoved a tube down his throat, hitting resistance along the way but Mathias wanted to start pumping his stomach free of whatever may be causing him to choke while the nurses worked diligently in getting him hooked up to all the monitors for his pulse, oxygen and respiration — which was dipping dangerously low.

Ryker, Bryce and Sienna sitting in the corner of the room, praying to Goddess for their Lunos, Enzo standing in a corner of the room, trembling uncontrollably as his eyes stay glued to Mell while I just couldn't sit still.

Pacing around the room to calm both my nerves and Gemini's — I just couldn't get the image out of my mind of Mell being on that hardwood floor in our packhouse, convulsing, drooling, choking on his own blood as the flesh on his leg continued to burn away without a known cause.

As the hours ticked by, my mate's condition hadn't gotten any better — in fact, he was a hell of a lot worse. All of the flesh from his right leg was practically gone by this point, his muscles and tendons all covered in a silver like substance that slowly spread as the time passed, soon enough Mell's oxygen levels had dipped so low that he was now hooked up to a machine that was breathing for him.

My own condition drastically changing — I could no longer hold Gemini back as he had forced control and sat at the foot of Mell's bed in my form, never blocking me out so that I could play witness to what was happening as well.

I didn't even fight him on it, I didn't have the strength not after trying to comfort Enzo, comfort Ryker, Bryce and Sienna, watching my mate deteriorate right in front of my eyes and trying to keep my own pending rage in check — I just couldn't fucking do it.

It was rare — very rare, but I was thankful for Gemini forcing control and taking the lead on this one because I just didn't have it in me to maintain what needed to be.

Enough time and issues had gone on before both Gemini and I needed answers and without being able to wait any longer, Gemini looks to Mathias for those answers.

"So?" He prompts and Mathias looks to him.

Shaking his head, Mathias says, "I've only seen this a few times before. It's definitely wolfsbane, but in a form that we're not quite used to."

"Continue," Gemini growls when Mathias pauses.

Quickly nodding, Mathias continues. "Over my many years, I've come to learn that Wolfsbane isn't just grown naturally, Alpha. There is a way for it to be lab grown and when that happens you can manipulate the plant in anyway that you want, making it stronger, even more deadly..."
