The next morning, Shrek, Donkey and Grace were in the forest to meet up with the King
"Face it, guys. We're lost" Shrek said
"We can't be lost. We followed the King's instructions to the letter" Donkey said "what did he say? Go to the deepest, darkest part of the forest"
"Aye" Shrek said
"Go past the sinister-looking trees with the scary-looking branches" Donkey said
"Check" Shrek said
"And there's that bush that looks like Shirley Bassey" Donkey said
"We passed that bush three times already!" Shrek said
"Well, I wasn't the one who refused to stop for directions" Donkey said
"Oh great, my one chance to fix things up with Fiona's dad" Shrek frustrated "and I ended lost in the woods with you two"
"Hey we're trying to help, you know" Grace said when she crossed her arms
"I know, I know" Shrek said "I'm sorry, alright?"
"Hey don't worry about it" Donkey said
"I just really need to make thing work with this guy" Shrek said
"Yeah sure, now lets go bond with daddy" Donkey said
As they were walking Shrek and Grace hears the sound of purring and Shrek thought it was Donkey
"Well, well Donkey" Shrek said "I know it was kind of a tender moment back there, but the purring?"
"What are you talking about? I ain't purring" Donkey said
"Oh sure, what's next, a hug?" Shrek teases
"Shrek, donkeys don't purr" Donkey said "you think I am kind of-"
Then there was a orange cat wearing boots, a cape, a hat and has a sword and he landed in front of them
"Ah hah! Fear me if you dare" the cat said and hisses
"Oh, look! A little cat" Shrek said
"Look out, Shrek, he got a piece!" Donkey said
"It's a cat, Donkey" Shrek said "come here little kitty, kitty, kitty"
The cat puts his sword and cape down and ran to him as he got his boots off
"Oh come here little kitty" Shrek said
But then the cat shows it's claws and Shrek's face dropped
"This can't be good" Grace said
Then the cat started attacking Shrek, Grace and Donkey tried to get the cat off of Shrek
Donkey accidentally kicks Shrek in the groin cause he thought the cat was there
"Did I miss?" Donkey asked
"No. You got them" Shrek said when Grace nodded
The cat jump off of Shrek, did a circle in the air and landed on his boots
"Now thee ogre, pray for mercy from Puss... in boots" he introduced himself
"Ooooo, I'll kill that cat" Shrek grunted
"Ha, Ha, Ha!" Puss said but then he was starting to have a hairball making Shrek, Donkey and Grace confused
Puss got the hairball out, he coughs and said "he-he, hairball"
"Oh that is nasty" Donkey said as Grace made a disgust face
Shrek picked up Puss and asked Grace and Donkey "what do you guys think what should we do with him?"
"I say we take the sword and neuter him right here! Give him the Bob Barker treatment!" Donkey suggested
"Please, no, por favor, por favor, please no, I implore you" Puss begged "it was nothing personal, I was doing it only for my family! My mother she's sick and my father he lives off the garbage. The King offered me much gold and I have a little brother-"
"Woah, woah, woah, woah" Grace stopped Puss "Fiona's father paid you to do this?"
"The rich king, sí" Puss said
Shrek drops Puss and said "well, so much for dad's royal blessing"
"Oh, come on, Shrek don't feel bad. Almost everybody who meets you wants to kill you" Donkey said
"Gee thanks" Shrek said as he sat on the rock looking at the pond
"Nice Donkey" Grace said
"Maybe Fiona would have been better off it I were some sort of Prince Charming" Shrek said
"Sí, that's what the King said" Puss said and Grace and Donkey glared at him "oh um sorry, I thought that question was directed at me"
"Shrek, Fiona knows you'd would do anything for her" Donkey said as he and Grace goes up to Shrek
"Well, it's not like I wouldn't change if I could... I just.... I just wish I could make her happy" Shrek said but then he remembered something "hold the phone"
Shrek grabs the business card from Fairy Godmother
"Happiness, a tear drop away" Shrek read the card and had an idea and of course Grace knew the idea "Donkey, think of the saddest thing that's ever happened to you"
"Oh, man! Where do I begin? First there was the time the old farmer tried to sell me for some magic beans. I ain't never gotten over that. Then this fool went off and had a party, and they all the guest starting trying to pin a tail on me. Then they all got drunk, and started beating me with sticks, going Piñata! Piñata!" Donkey said "what is a piñata, anyway?"
"No Donkey, we need you to cry" Grace said
"Yeah well don't go projecting on me, I know Shrek's feeling bad but he's gotta let his own-" Donkey said and Puss steps on his hoof "Owww! You little hairy little licking sack of"
His tear lands onto card and a bubble came out of the card
"Is it on?, Is it on?" Fairy Godmother clears throat in the voice message "this is Fairy Godmother. I'm either away from my desk or with a client, but if you come by the office, we'll be glad to give you a personal appointment. Have a Happy Ever After!"
Then the bubble pops
"Are you two up for a little quest Donkey and Grace?" Shrek asked
Grace nodded
"All right that's more like it, Shrek, Donkey and Grace, on another whirlwind adventure" Donkey said and began singing
"Stop, ogre! I have misjudged you" Puss said
"Join the club. We got jackets" Shrek said
"On my honor, I am obliged to accompany you until I have saved your life and you have spare me mine" Puss said and he bows
"I'm sorry, the position of annoying talking animal has already been taken, let's go Shrek and Grace" Donkey said as Shrek goes to Puss
"Shrek?" Grace confused as she turns around
Puss gave Shrek the big eyes
"Shrek!" Donkey said
"Aww, come one, Donkey, look at him, in his wee lil' boots! I mean, how many cats can wear boots? Honestly?" Shrek said "let's keep him"
"Say what?!" Donkey said
Shrek pet Puss, making him purr and Donkey got so annoyed that he just walked off
"Oh listen him, he's purring" Shrek said as he puts Puss on his shoulder
"Oh so now it's cute" Donkey said
"Oh come on Donkey, lighten up" Shrek said
Shrek and Donkey kept arguing while they, Puss and Grace were on their way
