You arrived at the party feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension. You had always been a little bit shy, and the thought of being surrounded by so many people made you a bit nervous. But your best friend had promised you that it would be a fun night, and so you took a deep breath and stepped inside.

The party was already in full swing, with people laughing and chatting and music blaring from the speakers. You scanned the room, trying to find your friend, but you couldn't see her anywhere.

Just as you were about to leave while thinking this was a bad idea, someone shouted your name behind you.

"Y/NNNN!" Shouted your best friend Amanda. You could almost not hear her yelling through the loud music.

As she pushed people aside to come closer to you, you could see that she was waisted. Hair messy, makeup a little smushed and of course drink in hand. If you knew her well, you would know that this was only one of MANY drinks Amanda would drink at parties, and you could tell that this was NOT her first drink tonight.

"I'm sooooo glad you could make it Y/N," she yelled straight in your face.

Taken aback by the sudden shouting in your face, you took a step back. You were about to ask where she had been, but were interrupted by Amanda's girlfriend, who grabbed Amanda by the shoulders and kissed her on the cheek.

Her name was Sofia, Amanda introduced her to you last summer when she came out.

"Sorry, Y/N," Sofia said. "I'm going to have to steal Amanda for a moment. The DJ is crying for help up there, and he's going to play our favorite song." Sofia, apologize.

Before you could even question what she had just said to you, she had already dragged Amanda with her over to dance, leaving you for the second time taken aback and confused.

You stood there for a moment, looking around, looking if you knew anyone else. You didn't see anyone familiar, but you did see something you had grown familiar with.

What could that be, I hear you asking? That would be the lonely corner where you could stand observing the party without having to participate in the actuel partying yourself.

As you stood there suddenly, someone tapped you on the shoulder. You turned around to see a tall, handsome man with glasses and behind them sparkling hazel eyes with a gentle, warm smile.

"Hi, I'm Ryan Met," he said, extending his hand.

"Hi, I'm Y/N," you replied, feeling confused that anyone would come up to you, let alone introduce themselves. That usually never happens when standing quietly alone at parties, and when it does, it's usually just because they were looking for someone or to ask where the nearest toilet was. But at last here, you were shaking his hand.

"Would you like some company," Ryan asks.

"Sure, that would be nice," you answered back.

"So what made you come here tonight?" He asked, taking a sip of his drink.

"My friend made me come," you replied, feeling a little embarrassed by your answer. "What about you?"

"I only went because of my brother," Ryan said, taking another sip of his drink. "He went to talk to some old friends of his, and I didn't really know anyone else here, but then I saw you standing alone."

You chuckled. "Well then, I guess we're in the same boat,"

You continued to talk, finding out that you had many shared interests. You talked about your favorite music, movies and books, your dreams and aspirations, and your families and friends.
