"Jax, I love you."
My heart was really stopping this time. Did mom just say... "I love you"?! She was crying now, still kneeling next to me.
"Mom..." Eli let go of my hand, and without even thinking, I threw my body into her arms. I was crying now too. "I love you too..." I hugged mom, for the very first time, and it has never felt better. I finally felt the love, I should've felt my entire life. I could actually feel it.
"Oh, Jax..." She nestled her face into my shoulder. After what felt like forever, we pulled back and wiped our faces.
"You guys go. Go upstairs, go out, I don't care. Just go be together. I'll take care of your brother."
Mom stood and walked to James, who was staring at us, shocked. "Are you fucking kidding me?!"
He looked to me and Eli, and then to mom. "You're really going to allow this bullshit?!" Without a thought, mom smack James across the face. We sat there in shock.
"We don't talk like that in this house!" She looked to me and smiled. "Go on boys. We're gonna be having a little chit chat down here. Preferably alone." She glanced down to James who cowered under her, and chuckled.
James quickly turned his head to us and mouthed "Help." I shook my head. "Good luck dude." With that, Eli helped me up the stairs and to my room.
Once inside, we sat at the edge of my bed in silence. Until the silence was broken. I looked at Eli.
"Jax, about earlier."
