Chapter 8

The days were passing by quickly, me and the girls got closer and closer, especially Akali, since she now moved permanently to my room. I hadn't even trained that much, maybe I was overconfident or maybe the lack of action lately had made me put my guard down. Nonetheless this would prove to be a tremendous mistake, since now I was neglecting my truest friend and the other half of my person, without whom, I'd be nothing.

It was a normal Sunday at first, usually we don't get called in by Kayle during the weekend, so we weren't expecting any work, and we all went to a shopping mall. While we were checking out a clothes shop, my wristband lighted up, and me and Eve looked at each other. She had an anxious look on her face, one which I had never seen. I quickly reached her and we agreed to tell the girls we forgot something at home, instead go to the bathroom and teleport from there. It wasn't gonna be a really solid excuse, but we didn't have time for home. The girls gave us questionable looks while we ran away, but they didn't ask more. I didn't even kiss Akali before leaving, fuck. Nonetheless we reached the nearest bathroom and entered a stall, and without even saying a word we immediately teleported, but instead of the usual concrete and metal room, we were out in the open, in what seemed like a desert area, with bullets and magic flying everywhere. Still shocked, Evelynn didn't react to a missile coming for her, meanwhile I managed to turn into Khazix instantly and push her out of the way.

Eve: "What THE FUCK!"

Y/N: "Where the fuck are we?"

In the distance, a glowing golden figure shouted at us

Kayle: "This way! Move!"

We quickly ran where the voice was coming from, dodging the shots fired at us, and we arrived behind what seemed like a bunker built inside a dune, with half of it's rooftop ripped open. It was then that we noticed part of our team was there, including Kayle.

Eve: "What is going on for fuck's sake!? We almost died!"

Kayle: "I needed you all here, the void attacked!"

Y/N: "What about the headquarters?"

Kayle: "It's fucking gone! Void creatures pulled in from everywhere, they slaughtered Soraka and Cait, the rest is here"

Eve: "Fuck...How could the cultists do this? When did they get so strong?"

Kayle: "I don't know, but this is not just cultists, void creatures are flocking in like crazy, we're doomed!"

Y/N: "Did they find a gate?"

I asked with trembling voice

Kayle: "No, no, otherwise it would be much worse, but it seems they managed to open some kind of portal, I don't see any behemoths for now, so that's the only positive thing"

Eve: "Well fuck, we need to regroup and think this through, goddammit"

Kayle: "Ashe and Braum are down there, pinned under enemy fire, Graves and Fate went to contact our few allies and call them here, the rest of the remaining team is here fighting"

Y/N: "I'll go assist Braum and Ashe, you two wait here"

Eve: "Wait Y/N-"

Too late, I was already running in my Khazix form, my chest pounding in my heart, yet something felt off, like me and him were a bit detached, there was a slight delay in my movements, but I didn't think about it too much, I had to help my teammates.

Down the dune there was a pretty big plain area, with a few rock scattered around. Behind one of them Braum and Ashe were under heavy enemy fire. I turned invisible and reached them.
