Northern Equestria.
Starlight had been driving all night, and she was exhausted. She was nearly to the Crystal Empire. Suddenly, Starlight saw a no-trespassing sign on a closed gate up ahead.
"Well, I guess I'm close." Said Starlight.
Starlight drove straight through the gate and continued.
After a while, Starlight could make out what looked like a massive crystal tower castle in the distance. She had to stop the car because the roads in the place weren't wide enough for cars.
"The Crystal Empire." Said Starlight.
Starlight got out of the car and quickly felt the cold. While there wasn't any snow, the Crystal Empire was still located in an extremely cold region of Equestria.
"Oh my gosh." Said Starlight.
Despite being in ruins, the Crystal Empire was quite the sight, and Starlight took in this place. The buildings were made of crystal, and the castle looked more like a tower. Starlight turned on her flashlight and made her way through the streets of the crystal ruins.
Starlight searched around the remains of the Crystal Empire. No one really knew what happened to the Crystal Empire, other than the Mad King Sombra ruling over it. The ruins almost looked like a battle had happened there many years ago.
"Where are you?" Asked Starlight.
She was half expecting her client to be lingering around somewhere nearby.
After a while of walking through the ruins, Starlight found the building the was sure was the final temple. It was the same architectural design as the other two temples, but this one was made of crystals like the rest of the Crystal Empire.
As Starlight approached the building, she saw the guardian statue standing in front of the entryway. The statue was a man with a beard, long hair, and robes. It looked like that statue depicted the same man that was the main statue from the second temple, and the stained glass windows from the first temple. It suddenly hit Starlight. She had known that she recognized this man from somewhere, now she knew.
"You're a statue of Dark. Jesus Christ." Said Starlight.
Starlight slowly walked around the statue and entered the temple. This temple was smaller than the other two, and there was a pedestal in the center of the space. There were carvings on the crystal walls, but they looked like they had been done in a hurry compared to the other two temples. On the pedestal was a large book. Starlight walked up to the book and then turned around to look at the statue.
"Don't come to life while I read this. Ok?" Said Starlight.
Starlight opened up the book and began to read. It seemed to be the history of the medallion from the perspective of an observer, rather than someone directly involved.
The book read, "The Mad King of darkness, King Sombra, has brought devastation to our world. He has built an army that not even the Pillars have been able to defeat. However, Sombra is not the master, or rather mistress, of this madness. I have only seen this being once, but I knew who she was, she was the one they call Midnight. The Pillars can't stop this disaster, and I must document what is left of Equestria before it all falls. Signed, Stygian."
Starlight thought after reading this.
"Who was Midnight?" Asked Starlight.
She continued reading.
The book read, "The Pillars have failed. Flash Magnus was killed by one of Sombra's Sirens, Mistmane died trying to save a burning town, Somnambula is missing, and Rockhoof was brutally killed by Midnight. I was there, I watched Midnight kill Rockhoof, and that woman isn't Equestrian. The remaining Pillars, Meadowbrook and Starswirl, are staying in Canterlot Castle with the king and queen. Canterlot is the last stand for Equestria, and if Midnight comes here we're all dead. Signed, Stygian."
