Starlight

Chapter 1

Heroes face Villains and fight against enemies in the open. However, some dangers are long since past, but leave stories behind to help uncover current enemies. Detectives and investigators uncover these mysteries. This is the story of one who finds herself in this era of The Age of Heroes.

Eques, 2021. Canterlot.

Starlight Glimmer was sitting in her bedroom, aka her office. She was looking at some documents on her desk.

"I knew it!" Said Starlight.

Starlight pulled out her phone and dialed her current client.

"Hello, Ms. Hooves? Yes, I just finished my investigation. Yes, you were right, they did change their muffin recipe. I'll email the documents to you. You're very welcome." Said Starlight into her phone.

Starlight looked at her desk and saw she had no more pending cases at the moment. She decided to finally go to bed.

That morning, Starlight got up and got ready to go to school. She went downstairs to see her father.

"Morning my little star!" Said Starlight's father.

"Morning dad." Said Starlight.

Starlight quickly grabbed some food, ate it, and started out the door.

"Wait! Aren't you forgetting something?" Asked Starlight's father.

Starlight sighed and turned to face her father. He kissed her on the cheek.

"Have a good day at school!" Said Starlight's father.

Starlight waved back at her father as she boarded the bus. As Starlight walked past seats, she soon saw someone waving her over, it was Pinkie Pie.

"Hi, Starlight!" Said Pinkie Pie.

"Hello, Pinkie." Said Starlight as she sat down next to Pinkie.

"So how's the private investigating?" Asked Pinkie.

"Slow. How's the superhero business?" Asked Starlight.

"Well you know, with Princess Luna ruling Equestria, The Light's agents have been having a very bad time. Especially when Luna sends in us Element bearers." Said Pinkie Pie.

Starlight nodded. About half a year ago, former princess, Mi Amore Cadenza was defeated by the Galactic Titans. With Cadenza in prison, and Celestia dead, Princess Luna was the only ruler left for Equestria. The Plumbers allied with Princess Luna to help protect Eques from outside enemies like The Light. Pinkie Pie and the other barres of the Elements of Harmony had been protecting Equestria ever since they returned from Earth. All except Twilight Sparkle, who had decided to stay on Earth.

"Any new word from Twilight?" Asked Starlight.

"Not recently. We're expecting another letter next time the Plumber guard changes out." Said Pinkie Pie.

When the bus arrived at Canterlot High, Starlight and Pinkie Pie went to their separate classes. As Starlight went through school that day, she had many people thank her for investigations she had solved for them and for her role in defeating The Light.

During lunch, Starlight pulled out her laptop and checked her email to see if someone had given her a new case. She was met with a new case email.

The email read "Starlight Glimmer, I have a case for you to uncover. There is an artifact I wish for you to find. This artifact is ancient and well-hidden. I would retrieve it myself if I was able, but only you have the ability to locate it. Your payment will come after you've located the artifact."

Starlight stared at the email with confusion and intrigue. Whoever this client was, wanted her to find an ancient artifact.

"Out of my expertise, but I'm certainly intrigued." Said Starlight.

Starlight responded to the email with "Hello good sir, I accept your case. Could you give me information on what the artifact is?"

She waited until her client responded.

"The artifact is a silver medallion that used to belong to a great sorcerer and was broken into three pieces and hidden in three temples across Equestria." Read the client's email.

Starlight was even more intrigued. Later that day, Starlight was in the school's library. She found an old book about Equestrian artifacts. She eventually found an illustration that fit the description of the silver medallion her client described.

"The medallion of Midnight was an ancient artifact used by the last ruler of the Crystal Empire, King Sombra. The medallion was taken and destroyed by the great wizard, Star Swirl the Bearded, and sealed away in temples." Starlight read out loud.

Starlight continued to read. She eventually got another email from her client.

"The first temple is not far from your location. Hidden deep in the Everfree Forest." Read the client's email.

Starlight looked around the library. She almost felt like her client was watching her.

"If the first temple is in the Everfree, then I need to be careful." Said Starlight.

When school ended, Starlight ran into Pinkie Pie again.

"Hey, Starlight!" Said Pinkie.

"Hey." Said Starlight.

"You ok? You don't seem very smiley." Said Pinkie.

"I got a new client. He wants me to find an artifact hidden in ancient temples. One of them is in the Everfree." Said Starlight.

"What... What did you say?" Asked Pinkie.

"I said yes. Something tells me I need to do this." Said Starlight.

"Do you want me and the girls to come with you?" Asked Pinkie.

"I'm not sure. I'll tell you if I need you." Said Starlight.

"Oki Doki." Said Pinkie.

When Starlight got home, she ate dinner with her father.

"You alright, sugar bear?" Asked Starlight's father.

"Dad, I might have the biggest case I've had yet." Said Starlight.

"Well, thats great!" Said Starlight's father.

"Except it might take me off to places all around Equestria." Said Starlight.

Starlight's father looked at her.

"What is this case?" Asked Starlight's father.

"My client wants me to find an artifact. Apparently, a part of it is in the Everfree Forest." Said Starlight.

"What are you going to do?" Asked Starlight's father.

"I'm going into the Everfree tomorrow. I feel like I have to do this." Said Starlight.

Starlight's father looked a little concerned.

"Dad, I helped expose Cadenza and save Equestria from The Light. I can handle this." Said Starlight.

Starlight's father got up and hugged Starlight.

"Just promise me you'll stay safe." Said Starlight's father.

"I promise." Said Starlight.

Before bed, Starlight packed a backpack with supplies she might need. A flashlight, camping gear, food, and her laptop. Before she went to bed, her father knocked on the door.

"Yea, dad?" Asked Starlight.

"I just wanted to give you something to have on you for this. Use it only if you have to." Said Starlight's father.

Starlight's father held out a handgun with three magazines and a holster for her belt.

"Dad, are you sure?" Asked Starlight.

"It will make me feel better if you have a weapon on you." Said Starlight.

Starlight took the gun and holster.

"Now get some rest. You have a big day tomorrow." Said Starlight's father.
