Chapter Two

Do you know what the definition of space madness is? I'll tell you, it's a feeling that sits in your gut like a thousand pound weight, crawling up your spine and making you feel on edge, the root of the madness coming from you being stuck in a small space for a very, VERY long time.

I began feeling restless around the second week of us leaving Kad'os,  along with every member of my family.

However, Elex,  I believe he had space madness long before we left our planet.

Elex was constantly chattering nonsense that I tried my best to ignore, my dim brother might be 156 moon cycles old but I was far more mature than he was, he liked to differ that, saying I was boring as a stick, never doing things that we're fun.

It wasn't  that I wasn't fun. I just preferred my own company than the company of others.

Along with the madness,  came a new tragedy. Young children!

I Absolutely could not even stand my cousins, they we're only 60 cycles old, but they had the courage of rigerezas to pester me with pointless babbling,  brushing their hair, telling them about the heros of Kad'os,  but the thing they begged me the most to do was simple.

They wanted me to Sing them the Kardonian Lullaby.

They loved to her me Sing, they would stop what ever they we're doing and climb up into my lap and watch me with sides eyes. To make matters worse, they wouldn't go to sleep until I sang them the Lullaby at least six times.

Did I hate following the children around, not completely. But I didn't do it out of friendliness to my cousins, I did it for my aunt Hanna. She hardly did more than sleep and eat. The loss of her husband had taken her very will to live and we could see her withdrawing farther into herself every passing day.

Uncle Marixx was a daiche soldier and the rebels picked him as a perfect target to set an example for our town. Marixx had been a Sweet man with a gentle soul, he wasn't meant to be a soldier, he was better suited to be at home with his wife and young children.

But alas, the rebels didn't see a kind and gentle father when they  raided our home and killed him in cold blood.

The worst part about being trapped on this ship , it gives me all the time in the world to maul over what is to come.

Where we're we headed? How long would it take to reach our new home,  and could it even compare to our beloved planet?

As weeks turned into months, boredom grew. There was nothing better to do than watch Stars flash by the windows in dazzling colors, and see far off glimpses of planets.

Some of the planets we came across, they weren't ever habitable,  horrid or had hostile races living on them.

While the other planets we're breath taking and friendly, we couldn't impose on there hospitality when there was a chance Talos would come after us. So onward we went.

Months turned into a year a due we had traveled light years away from our home planet, crossing over six galaxies, yet still we traveled forward.

I asked my father once about why we we're traveling so far
" Daja,  what are you looking for "

He smiled and rubbed my face with the back of his hand
" IM looking for our home my star, a place of refuge and a place I know they will take us without any questions asked " he exclaimed wavering his hands in the air as he spoke.

I Smiled and nodded my head, then a new question popped into my head.

I climbed over my father knee and into his lap, cautious to avoid the sensitive controls in the cockpit.

" Do you know about the planet we're going to Daja!  "
He stroked his dark beard and gave me a sly look and gave my scarlet braid a Yank.

" why so curious my star, trying to figure out the race of that world are you "

he laughed and it shook his wide frame, he was Spot on, my face burned and I yanked on my fathers beard. That only made him laugh louder. Once he settled down,  his face became serious and his voice became low

" yes, we are getting close, so very close. The planet is populated by a race of aliens known as humans, and they live on a water planet "..... he trailed off when he saw me cringe with  the mentioning of water.

" my star, there is still plenty of land, so don't fret! Humans are pretty advanced for a race who is ignorant of other lifeforms other than their own."

" but whats the planet called!  "

" patience was never your best quality. Fine my impatient daughter. The planet of our destination is twice the size of our planet and is called Earth. A friend of mine works within their government,  he is allowing us safe passage onto the planet "

Satisfied with his answer is nodded my head and rested it on his shoulder. He rubbed my back and began to hum a familiar tune, one I knew by heart,
" high hangs the three moons and low sinks the red sun " I murmured.

My father knew the Lullaby calmed me, I was taught it at a young age and sang it when ever I got nervous. My Uncle taught me the song and I thought of him whenever the words passed my lips.

" Sing Sweet songs young ones "
My mother finished for me as she came into the cockpit.
I lifted my head and gave her a sleepy smile,

" my little bird, singing Sweet songs into your daja's ear. Come, let's get you to your pod. You need your sleep and your father needs to watch the Stars " .

She cradled me against her and carried me to my shared pod, Elex was already fast asleep, the color of his hair slightly changing from brown to black every few moments. My mother kissed me between the eyes and pulled my blanket up,

" before you know it, we will be on our new home. Just sleep and Dream of Stars " she touched my face " sleep deeply Mirra, you and Elex are the future of Kad'os,  don't forget that".

She silently left, leaving me staring up at the porthole on the top of the ship, Watching as star particles flew by. I began to wonder, what would the Stars look like from Earth?
