Over the next few weeks, Katie and Max were inseparable. They spent all their free time together, going on dates, exploring the city, and just enjoying each other's company. Katie felt like she was living in a fairytale, and she was thrilled to be experiencing all of these new and exciting things with Max.
But as the end of the semester approached, Katie began to worry about what would happen when Max went back home for the summer. They lived in different states, and she didn't know how they would make a long-distance relationship work.
One night, as they were lying in bed together, Katie brought up her concerns. "What are we going to do when you go home for the summer?" she asked. "I don't want to lose you."
Max frowned. "I don't want to lose you either," he said. "But I don't know how we're going to make a long-distance relationship work. I've tried it before, and it's really hard."
Katie felt her heart sink. She didn't want to think about a future without Max in it.
"But I don't want to break up with you," Max continued. "I care about you too much."
Katie felt a glimmer of hope. "So what are we going to do?"
Max thought for a moment before speaking. "What if we tried to make it work? What if we made a plan to visit each other over the summer, and we kept in touch every day?"
Katie felt a rush of excitement at the thought of spending the summer with Max, even if it was just for a few weeks. "I'd love that," she said.
Max smiled at her. "Good. Then that's what we'll do."
For the rest of the night, they stayed up late, talking about their plans for the summer. They made a list of all the things they wanted to do together and promised to call each other every day.
As Katie drifted off to sleep that night, she felt a sense of peace and contentment. She knew that a long-distance relationship would be hard, but she also knew that she was willing to do whatever it took to make it work. She had found love, and she was going to hold on to it with everything she had.
The last few days of the semester flew by in a blur of final exams and packing up their dorm room. Before they knew it, it was time for Max to leave.
As they hugged goodbye, Katie felt tears prick at the corners of her eyes. She didn't want to say goodbye to Max, even though she knew it was only temporary.
"I'll miss you," she said, trying to keep her voice steady.
"I'll miss you too," Max replied, his voice soft. "But we'll see each other soon. I promise."
Katie smiled at him, feeling a glimmer of hope. "I believe you."
