Chapter 2: Training: Horseback ridding

[Alfera's P.O.V]

"We have a new cadet! Introduce yourself!" A member of the Scouting Legion yelled out and gestured me to come forward. I strided forward and did a salute that I didn't knew that awed everyone.

"Alfera. I am honored." I stated in a stoic manner. I was informed that the squadron I'm on is with Corporal Levi. Man that guy's creepy. He's short but he can land a punch and kick like a lightning bolt...but a tad bit attractive. I yawned most of the time because what happened yesterday after the trial was a mess.

[Flashback...]

"Wow I didn't knew the trial went well!" Captain Hanji beamed at me, removing the stains of blood all over my face. I flinched when Corporal Levi plopped down beside me on the couch.

"Hey Alfera, do you loathe me?" Corporal glanced at me still wearing a pokerface. Well that was unexpected.

"No, I think it was neccessary to do that." I faced the other way, avoiding his strong gaze. I was quite flustered but he looks very attractive. I turned to him and smiled warmly. Captain Hanji added alchohol to a cutton bud and placed it at my injured cheek, I gasped at the sting but it didn't hurt that much.

"Oh sorry Alfera. Does it still hurt?" I shacked my head. After that they immediately sent me to the outer base of the Survey Corps. They gave me the uniform with the wings of freedom cloak. I was pretty impressed. I retired on my bed they assigned me. I slept and not long after I was woken up again by Captain Hanji telling me to get up and get dressed. But first I need a damn shower!

[End Flashback...]

I crossed my arms and wait for futher instructions. I'm still sleepy though. Until Captain Hanji appeared and dragged me to the mess hall. There I found all the members of the squadron I was assigned in.

"Levi she's here." Hanji smiled and dragged me to an empty chair beside a blonde with blue eyes. I asked permission first.

"May I?" I asked the boy beside me and in return he nodded reluctantly. I sat down and poured myself a cup of tea. I glanced over some of the faces around me. There're all new faces to me except Heichou and Eren that is.

"Oi brat introduce yourself." Heichou glared at me. Well I'm already used to his glares and stares so I just acted like normal.

"Hi."

"Is that all you're going to say, shitty brat?" Heichou growled at me, wearing a pissed off look. I looked at the other way and muttered.

"Stupid toothpick." I muttered in gritted teeth. Everyone in the room stifled a laugh, hiding their smug faces behind hands, a cup of coffee and forcing a frown but failed. (I got this retort from an AoT fanfic: Beyond the Walls|AoT boys x reader [in which I LOL!] It's awesome!)

The guy beside me sweat dropped but also is laughing that actually made me smirk in satisfaction. I glared back at Heichou who looks totally terrifyingly horrificly staring at my soul with anger. I mentally cursed myself, I fucking pissed him off alright! And so training started minus the introduction of course.

First the horseback ridding. I was led to an open field and wat for some horses to come out. Eren stood beside me and smiled. I smiled at him back. We started a small conversation until he started pointing out people I met in the mess hall. The boy beside me was his bestfriend named Armin Arlert and the girl with a scarf is Mikasa Ackerman.

I told him I knew everyone by now. He was shocked and impressed that he thinks that even the most confidential of files I already knew by now. I explained that I accidentally read them by mistake but I can't turn back now can I? I asked when are the horses are coming because I want to do the other training regimen.

"If you're in a hurry you could ride that horse over there." Eren grimaced and pointed at Jean. I looked at Eren in confusion until it finally dawned to me.

"Ahahahahaha! Horseface! Jeager you're a genius!" I laughed and lightly punched his arm.

"You're not bad yourself!" He laughed with me, remembering my insult to Heichou. We started joking around with the horse. Somehow Eren stops and looks at me, when I look at him back he turns away with a blush on his face. Maybe it's just my misconception so I shrugged it off.

Then finally the horses came. I rode all the horses but somethings missing I still can't put my finger on it.

"Um...Alfera. Is there something wrong with the horses?" Armin asked me while I was thinking of what was missing until it slapped me back to my senses.

"The feeling..."

"What?"

"I can't choose any of them because they don't have the feeling." I stared at Armin's blue orbs. His burned up and tried to look away. I noticed and started walking off to the forest. Armin starts reasoning with me that it's alright to choose a different one but I told him that I was told that if something is missing in all your choices, you have to look outside of the box.

I wandered in the forest with ridiculously large trees, I felt nostalgic. As I wandered about I found a lone horse, drinking from a lake. I sighed in awe on how majestic it looked. Its long black mane shining in the suns rays, strong slender legs and its steel gray pools. I noticed that nobody saw it but maybe just maybe it a mustang. Slowly, I stepped forward, I was halfway there until it looked at me. It stared at me, I stared at him back unfortunately I need to hurry up a bit. I unconsciously stepped ahead and it flinched.

"Easy. Easy there. Easy it's alright." I raised my hand and calmly moved ahead, careful to not to frighten it. My palm touched the snout and it started to sniff then lick. It finally trusted me and now I have to repay its trust. I rubbed its head and stared at his eyes suddenly it licked my cheek.

"Stop stop it tickles." I giggled. Then I started talking to it.

"Ok then. Are you male or female? neigh once for male, neigh twice for female."

It neighed once. Male so it's a he.

"I give you a name. Hmm? Eclipse. Is that okay?"

He nuzzled my neck making me giggle again. I climbed onto his back without a saddle and showed him back to the clearing where everyone might be wondering where I went off to. Eclipse gallops to the clearing, everyone stared at me, smiling in delight I finally found a horse. I smiled at Armin, giving him an I told you look. Heichou came and started to glare at me nonstop. I for one knew what he's trying to say without words. Without hesitation, I got off of Eclipse and came forward to talk to my surperior.

"Do you know what you have there?" He never looks away from my gaze. We both do.

"A mustang, sir." I stood up straight, not moving from the spot. He looks at me up and down and stared at Eclipse.

"You do know mustangs are hard to train, right?" He craned his neck to the side, rubbing my mustang's snout. I stepped forward and faced my surperior. "Yes, just like me." I added.

"Then ride him. If you feel the same thing it feels, you can have him." Heichou removed his hand and started to walk away. Before he could completely turn around, I hugged him tightly. His eyes widened and so did everyone. I was very happy, I can finally have him. "Thank you, thank you, thank you Levi Heichou!" The said man flinched at my words. After that I got a saddle for my horse and rode him. He's fast, very fast. Eclipse and I had the same feeling. The feeling of Freedom.
