"S-stop! Please!"

"Look at 'im! Weak as shite!" Taz pointed a finger at the petrified boy. Everyone followed his movement. Once again, the crowd started to close up on Alex.

His eyes shot open, seeing someone's chest in front of him. His heart pounded. It was Miles. But the nightmare was still on his mind, tears trailing down his cheeks. Small sniffles emitted from him.

"A-Alex?" Miles turned over. "What's wrong?" He was worried he did something to Alex last night.

"J-just some s-stupid nightmare..." Alex wiped his tears away, but more kept escaping his eyes. He felt embarassed but comforted by Miles' presence, which helped a bit.

"No, it's nowt stupid... come 'ere." Miles wrapped his arms around the sobbing boy, embracing him tightly. Alex softly cried into Miles' shoulder.

"It's okay, Alex. It'll be alright." Alex continued to weep, but Miles' reassurance made him feel a bit better.

"I wanna make your smoke and kisses
Black and white
Measure all your spinning whispers
In the loose moonlight
Magic from your fingers tingles down my spine
Colour in-between the lines
Let it out, let it out, let it all out
Let it out, let it out, let it all out
You rearrange my mind
You rearrange my mind..." He softly sang. Miles' voice rang through Alex's ears. Alex blushed, smiling at the way he sang. He was astonished.

"...An uneasy feeling churns inside of me
I'll draw it on a wall for you all to see
Tryina find a diamond in an avalanche
But you just haven't had the chance

Oh, let it out, let it out, let it all out
Let it out, let it out, let it all out
You rearrange my mind
You rearrange my mind

Let it out, let it out, let it all out
Let it out, let it out, let it all out
You rearrange my mind
You rearrange my mind..." Alex was left speechless, but his singing worked.

"I'm sorry you 'ad to deal wif me like tha'..." Alex pulled away from the hug, sadly looking out the window.

"Don't be ashamed of it..." Miles gently held Alex's hand. "Now c'mon, let's go downstairs!" They both giggled as Miles led them down to the kitchen.

"Hello, yew two!" Alex's mom greeted.

"Hi Mrs. Turner!" Miles flashed a friendly smile.

"Hi mum!" Alex waved. "Sorreh for tha' mess on tha' couch... we got kinda tired..."

"It's alreyt, I figured." Penny responds. "What's yer name again- Miles?" Miles nods. "Do yew wanna stay for breakfast?"

"Of course!"

"'Ere ye go, both of yew!" Two plates of toast, eggs, and sizzling bacon were placed in front of them. They both thank Penny and start to dig in.

Ding!

Miles checks his phone, greeted with a worried text from his mom.

6:34 | Mom: Miles; where are you? You didn't come back last night...

6:35 | Miles: Sorry, Mom. I forgot to tell you that I slept over last night.

6:36 | Mom: It's okay, just come back when you're done with what you're doing.

6:36 | Miles: 👍

Miles frowned at the message, not wanting to leave yet.

"Why tha' long face?" Alex asked.

"Me mum says I gotta get home aftah breakfast." Miles shook his head. "Eh, I'll see yew at school anyweh." Alex nods and continues to eat.

...

Miles notices one of his pieces of bacon had disappeared. He turns to Alex, who's happily munching on it.

"Alex!" Miles snatches one of Alex's bacon as an act of revenge. Alex just giggles as he snacks on 'his' bacon.

"Alreyt, I gotta go now, I'll see ya' at school! Bye Mrs. Turner!"

"Bye hun!" Penny waves along with Alex.

After the door shut, Penny gave Alex a telling look. "Sooo, this is your project partner, right?"

"Mummmm... don't even start. He's just a partner..."

"Hmmm, I dunno, this picture kinda goes against what yer sayin' to meh..." Penny teased, showing her son a photo off her phone.

Alex immediately reddened. It was a picture of Miles and Alex sleeping soundly together, Alex all snuggled up against Miles.

"H-hey! delete tha'!" Alex flailed his hands toward the phone, trying to press the delete button. Penny just shifted her body away while swinging the phone around.

"Nuh-uh!" She laughed. "Yew guys look so cute 'ere!"

"I um... I guess..." Blood flooded his face just thinking of the photo. "I'm jus' gonna... go change..." He frantically ran up the stairs to reach his bedroom. Flopping onto his bed, he thought about the photo again and squirmed. The smell of Miles' cologne still lingered on the bedsheets, making him blush madly. What was it about Miles that made Alex like him so much? He didn't know. Pulling out his pen and journal, Alex writes a small entry about Miles.

the first glance i took from you
the first talk i had with you
the first smile i shared with you
was enough for me to fall for you

i think im in love with you, miles

"Alex, wait." His mother stopped him from leaving. "Just... be careful, alright? I really do love you, and I just don' want the same thing happenin' wif Miles..."

Alex understood.

》》》

"Hi, Matt!" Alex greeted.

"Yew seem quite happy todeh... wha' happened?"

Alex didn't want to think about it, he was already pink. "Eh, nothin' much..."

"Yeah, right! I see blush goin' to yer face alreadeh!" Matt teased. "Now tell meeee!"

"...Later." Alex looked away. Matt said a little 'aw, c'mon!' and made his way to his next class. Alex did the same thing.

Miles waved to Alex with a cheeky smile. Alex couldn't help but grin back. He sat himself down next to Miles, placing his backpack down as well.

The class felt like forever, but it was bearable with them by their side. Alex just felt like hugging him the whole time, desperate for the feeling again.
