◇─◇──◇─────◇──◇─◇Stan was 8 years old when his string finally appeared. Normally kids would get theirs around the age of 7 but Stan was a late bloomer. When Stan's string appeared, something was wrong. Stan's string pointed to the sky. When he asked his parents about it, they didn't really know what it meant either.
At first they thought that maybe their son was lying about his string. How could they tell after all? It's not like they could see it. The only ones who could see the string connected to them was the soulmates.
But as their son kept on complaining about it, they knew he wasn't lying. So they took their son to see a professional who also didn't have the right answer. All the professional could say was that maybe it meant his soulmate was dead. But Stan didn't want to believe that. He wanted to keep hope. He didn't want to be lonely for the rest of his life.
But as years went on, his string never pulled.
All of his classmates would feel their soulmate tug on their string from time to time. Some even met their soulmates. But Stan never felt a little tug or a pull. He wanted to. He wanted to so bad. He didn't want to have to face the truth behind it.
Stan wanted to cut the string a couple times. What was the point in having it if he had no soulmate? But.... He could never bring himself to do it.
That didn't mean that he didn't have the urge from time to time.
Stan stood at the bus stop as he scrolled through instagram on his phone. It was getting close to Valentine's Day, so he saw a lot of love stuff on his feed. Stan hated Valentine's Day. That's when he was reminded the most about his.... Disability? Defect? Impairment? Whatever it was!
He didn't want to have to be reminded of it every time Valentine's Day came along..
After seeing another Valentine's Day add for jewelry, he decided that was enough social media for one day. It was almost as if instagram was doing this on purpose. Stan rolled his eyes as he shoved his phone into his jacket. "Hey dude." Stan heard beside him.
Stan turned his head to see his two best friends, Kenny and Cartman. Cartman was a little less his best friend and more of someone he tolerated...
"Hey Stannnn. Moping around like a baby I see?" Cartman commented seeing Stans frustrated face. Stan glared at his chubby friend. "Fuck off." Cartman gave him a fake sympathetic look. "Will you be okay going to school? I know they'll have tons of valentine decorations. I don't want you to feel bad. Here! If you want you can hold my hand to make you feel less lonely." Cartman teased as he held his hand out for Stan to grab.
Stan held up his hand as he flipped him off. "Choke on a dick." He said. Cartman didn't even find his reaction insulting, if anything he found it amusing. Cartman laughed hard at Stan, maybe a little too hard for comfort. Stan began to suspect that he was laughing like that on purpose. Kenny sighed before elbowing Eric in the stomach. Cartman clutched his side before glaring at the blond boy. "What the fuck!?"
