One moment I was running away from home and the next I was getting hit by a bus. And in that moment while the bus came hurling at me at a whopping 40 mph I realized something. In those movies and books when the character freezes it's real. I really couldn't move if I had wanted to. But in those movies someone saves them and then they live happily ever after. But no one was coming for me as the Pace bus did not come to a stop.
One time in science class our teacher showed us a video of this girl that fell off a cliff but didn't feel any pain because her brain wouldn't let her. I think that was happening to me. As I lay there in a bloody and rainy pool, I felt anything but at ease. My miserable life started to flash before my eyes. Bullied at home, bullied at school, bullied at work, and now bullied by a bus.
I stopped thinking about anything and started to let out a prayer to whatever god was watching over me.
God. If you exist, please give me a second chance. I just want to try again. So badly. That's all I want. I'll do anything to be happy. Please just let me be happy.
And with my dying wish I closed my eyes and fell away to the darkness.

When my eyes opened again I realized that I was dead. Or as dead as I could be. I was in complete darkness except for a glowing orb in front of me.
"Hi."
"That's how you're going to greet a god?"
"I really thought you'd be bigger for some reason, or like an old man-"
"Enough!" The ball barked. "I'm hear to answer that pathetic wish of yours."
"What do you mean-"
"stop interrupting! This generation is so rude. I'm going to need to flood the earth or send an asteroid here again. Anyways, I'm giving you anther chance."
"Really?" Something like hope fluttered alive inside me.
"I figured since you're young and you've had a rough going, it would only be fair. So to be as fair as possible, I'll give you two wishes in this life."
"I wish that I was rich and I wish that- I wish that I-"
"You have five seconds."
"I wish to be happy."
"Well that's a given."
"I want a redo then-"
"Too bad. Have fun! Good luck in this life."
And for the second time the darkness encompassed me.
*****
"Is she alright? Someone call the medics!" A stern voice shouts from my left. Who is that? Did I fall asleep in class? I sit up before my eyes are even open.
"She's up!" the voice of a child.
My eyes finally open, adjusting to the brightness that surrounds me. The floor beneath me is marble and all around everything is white and gold. It looks like a museum with pillars reaching up into high glass ceilings, paintings of people in gowns and suits line the walls. I rub my eyes. People dressed to the nines with colorful dresses and wondrous suits stare down at me.
"Where am I?" I mutter, brushing away- long dark hair. It's silky and slips through my fingers. I stare down at myself, my eyes nearly burst through my head. I'm dressed in an extravagant pink dress. Ribbons and fluff tulle! What is this? I must be dreaming or something. "What is this hideous thing?" I try to stand, but kilter off balance, I stare at my feet. They are tucked into seven inch heels.
"Laurena!" The man's voice again. I turn to face him.
"How do you know my name?" He's tall and has salt and pepper hair that waves in a way that can only be described as wealthy, his suit is as pink as mine. The little kid next to me is matching us as well!
"What's wrong with her!" The little boy wails, tears welling in his eyes.
"Laurena- it's me your father, Duke of the West- we live on Whale Street and we have three dogs, six horses and-" He starts to get misty eyed!
What is going on?
Suddenly the crowd begins to part. A boy that can't be older than 19 steps off a dais. His face hidden behind a white mask but everyone seemingly knows who he is. Hair the color of starlight and eyes bluer than sapphire stares me down. I've seen that face before. A guard accompanies him. Dark hair pushed back to reveal a straight nose and the greenest eyes I've ever seen. I know them.
These two boys from the most popular book that swept the globe. "Love in Blossom".
My favorite book. My favorite characters. I rack my brain- Laurena. That's my real name, and the name of the villainess. This pink, this father, that boy- the three dogs and six horses!
I pinch myself so hard I almost cry out.
Laurena daughter of the Duke of the West, destined to die in the end but not without ruining so much of the story first. And the two guys walking towards me, the two male leads.
So here I am I suppose, my only family in tears beside me, and two of the most handsome men I've ever seen in my entire life, walking towards me. And me. On the floor, in the most disastrous dress I've ever worn.
Perfect.
