Chapter 1: Exterminans Magicae

When Hades was about to wake Audrey, a green light instead of the blue one from his ember enveloped the room, interrupting him.

''Well, well, what do we have here...'' Says a mischievous voice. 

''Maleficent!'' Everyone yelled in unison.

The truth was, Maleficent was the one controlling Audrey all along, and she wasn't going to let that god spoil her revenge plan by waking her up.

''Mother?'' Mal asked shocked by her mother's unexpected presence. ''How... how are you here? I... I thought you were a lizard!'' she exclaimed confused. Maleficent just looked at her daughter and laughed.

''A lizard?!'' Maleficent started walking towards her daughter amidst giggles. ''I wasn't a lizard,'' she confessed. ''I've never been...'' she then turned serious. ''Did you really think you could defeat me Pumpkin?'' Mal didn't know what to do, she was paralyzed, what would her mother do to her? ''I'm practically invincible, Mal!'' exclaimed Maleficent.

''That's what we'll see!'' shouted Hades suddenly, then the god unleashed the power of his ember on Maleficent, which she quickly countered with the magic of her scepter. The room was enveloped in green and blue light. Everyone was terrified, as they had never thought of witnessing such a scene before. The god of the underworld against the mistress of evil? It's the end of the World!

Mal watched in fear as her parents fought, she knew that the two of them were very powerful, and if she didn't do something quick to stop them, they would blow up that room with everyone inside! 

Mal then takes a deep breath, starts to think and suddenly remembers a spell she had seen in the spell book her mother gave her, she then closes her eyes and starts to cast. The room envelops itself in a cloud of purple smoke. And then... silence takes over the place.

''Mal..?'' Ben asks worried because once the cloud of purple smoke clears, there is no sign of his fiancée or her parents.

...

Mal opens his eyes and sees that she is no longer in the room, but in a...alley? She frowns in confusion, she looks around and it really is an alley, a dirty, narrow alley. And it's... night? How is it already night?! Mal is already on the verge of panic. What did she do?!

''What did you do?!'' A voice exclaims from behind Mal and she turns to face her mother. Maleficent looks furious. ''What is this place?!''

''I... I don't know!'' Mal exclaims back in frustration.

''How do you not know?!'' Maleficent's eyes widen. ''You brought us here!''

''Leave the girl, Maleficent'' Hades steps between them.

''Oh, sure, Father of the Year is worried,'' she says sarcastically. ''Where have you been for the 16 years of your life, anyway?'' she teases him. Hades just looks at her but doesn't say anything, for now.

''Enough!'' Mal looks at them. ''If you two weren't about to cause a nuclear explosion with your magic, I wouldn't bring us here!''

''And where is here?!'' Maleficent asks again.

''I don't know!'' says Mal in exasperation. She then closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, when she opens them again she says: ''Look, I just cast a spell that I saw in your spellbook.''

''What spell?'' Maleficent demands.

''It was something about teleportation... Exterminans Magicae.'' Mal snorts and rolls her eyes, but when she looks at her mother, Maleficent is frozen with her mouth hanging open. ''What it was?''

''Exterminans Magicae?'' Maleficent whispers in disbelief. ''Do you have any idea what you've done, you stupid girl?!'' she says excitedly.

''Enough!'' Hades exclaims. He then confronts Maleficent, who appears to be very upset. ''I suggest you calm down and start explaining to us what this spell does Maleficent,'' he says quietly. Maleficent glares at him, takes a deep breath to calm herself, and begins to explain.

''Exterminans Magicae...'' she begins. ''This spell is indeed a teleportation spell, but not an ordinary one,'' she looked at her daughter. ''Exterminans Magicae is a powerful spell that, when focused on an Ascendant, banishes the person to another dimension, a prison dimension, Mal.''

''Does that mean...?'' Mal inhales worriedly.

''Wherever we are now, we're not in the United States of Auradon,'' says Maleficent earnestly. Mal exhales upon hearing this, she can't believe what her mother just said.

''And worse...'' says Hades suddenly making them both look at him. ''Looks like we're out of magic too,'' he said as he tried to light the flames in his hair, but to no avail.
