...

''Only one way to know'', Hades sighed and took the lead, opened the door and waited for Mal and Maleficent to pass, as soon as they passed the god closed the door and followed close behind.

The hotel wasn't very good, the entrance hall was very simple and a little dirty, but that's what they managed to find with the money they had. Hades and Maleficent weren't bothered by the dirty place, they both looked comfortable, after all they've seen enough of that on the Isle of the Lost, so they were used to it. Mal on the other hand didn't seem very comfortable, after she went to Auradon she got used to cleaner and more comfortable surroundings.

Hades walked to the reception where there was a gentleman, the man was old, bearded and bald and his body was full of tattoos. Hades stared at him for a few seconds as if he were analyzing him and the old man did the same with the god.

''What do you want?'' the old man asked rudely. Hades held his breath because as soon as the old man opened his mouth to speak a strong smell of alcohol wafted towards him.

''I want 3 rooms,'' said the god and looked at Mal and Maleficent. The old man followed the god's gaze and glared at the two women, he arched an eyebrow at Meleficent and scrutinized her from head to toe.

''Cool costume,'' the old man told her. Maleficent rolled her eyes and muttered something along the lines of 'Why does everyone think I'm wearing a costume!' The old man then turned his gaze to Hades and said, "I only have one room available with two beds.''

''Only two beds?'' the god questioned.

''And a couch,'' said the old man and before Hades could say anything else, Mal said, ''Perfect, let's take that room,'' she smiles.

''End of hall, first door on the right'' The old man says and hands her the keys.

Mal leads the way with her parents close behind. Maleficent didn't look too happy about having to share a room with her ex-husband, but there was no other option. Once they arrive, Mal opens the door and finds a decent room, which comes as a surprise.

''Um...not bad,'' she said. As soon as she walks over to the bed and sits down, she watches her parents and the two don't look very happy about sharing the same room with each other. ''Right...um...look the beds are pretty spacious so no one needs to sleep on the couch'' she suggests and looks at Maleficent. ''Mom, is it okay if I share a bed with you?''

"Whatever," Maleficent says with little interest.

''Perfect!'' she looks at Hades. ''Dad, you can have this bed here,'' she pointed to the next bed.

''Thanks Maly'' he smiles at her and Mal smiles back. Maleficent watches the father-daughter interaction and rolls her eyes.

''Did you really forgive him?'' Maleficent asks her daughter in disbelief. ''He abandoned you!'' the dark fairy exclaims.

''No!'' Hades approaches his ex-wife. ''I abandoned you!'' he points a finger at her.

''Oh really? And what's the difference?" she says sarcastically and before Hades can answer she continues "You were never there for her! I can be many things, but I NEVER abandoned my daughter, whereas you, you just walked into that damn cave and forgot you had one!'' she glares at him. ''So just because you lent her your damn ember, you get her forgiveness?'' Maleficent then looks at her daughter with disappointment and shakes her head before saying, "Auradon really screwed you Mal."

Mal gets up from the bed with what her mother said, she faces her mother then takes a deep breath and leaves the room, she wouldn't cry in front of her parents.

''Why are you like that Maleficent?'' Hades questions. Maleficent just looks at him but doesn't say anything, she then sighs and heads to the bathroom. Hades watches her and as soon as she closes the bathroom door he also sighs and goes after his daughter.

''Maly!'' Hades catches up with her in the hallway.

''I don't want to talk,'' Mal says and wipes a tear from her eye.

''Your mother...she's an idiot'' he stares at her.

''No! No, she's not...'' Mal stares back at him. "She... she's right," she sighs.

''About Auradon? No, look listen...'' he starts but is interrupted by her.

''No, not about Auradon, Dad'' Mal avoids looking at him. ''She...she's right about you'' a tear falls.

''Maly...'' Hades begins, he looks devastated. ''I made a mistake,'' he confesses and wipes the tear from her eye. ''But I promise you, I'll never leave you again,'' he says frankly. ''Don't listen to what your mother says, we both know what she's like.''

''Right'' Mal agrees, she looks better after what her father said.

''Hey, how about we go get something to eat?'' he suggests. ''I am starving!''

''I think that's a great idea,'' she smiles weakly. ''Wait, what about Mom?'' she recalls.

''Let's get her something to eat, don't worry,'' Hades says and winks. ''Now follow me!'' And then he starts walking and Mal follows close behind.

...

Maleficent enters the bathroom and closes the door, she was tired, tired of everything and everyone. The dark fairy then looks at herself in the mirror, she looks at her own reflection for a few seconds and sighs. 'Why are you like this Maleficent?' Hades asked her and the truth is, even she doesn't know, she's been like this for so long, so long, she didn't even know how to respond to him.

Maleficent then begins to undress, taking off her dress and then her shoes, to which she breathes a sigh of relief as she places her bare feet on the cold floor. She then begins to take the horned helmet off her head, this helmet is her favorite accessory, her brand, she smiles as she admires it and deposits it carefully on top of the counter. She then runs her fingers over her head massaging her scalp and as soon as she finishes massaging she gets under the shower and closes her eyes preparing for the cold water, but the water that falls on her is not cold but hot, and she sighs in pleasure at this.
