"Bye everyone! I'll miss you all!" Connor smiled his stupid smile and turned his sadness off. "Don't forget to turn it off, okay?"
"Like a liiiiiiiight switch." everyone chorused back.
Connor was totally definitely not crying, because he turned his tears off.
"Bye, Elder McKinley." said Kevin, struggling to get the words out.
"Oh, I'll miss you so much, Connor!" Elder Arnold "lies more than he tells the truth and also accidentally created his own religion AND also simply canNOT take a hint, gosh darn it" Cunningham wailed, springing forth to hug Connor.
"Will you behave respectably, Elder Cunningham?" Kevin hissed in annoyance.
"Sorry." Arnold mumbled, retreating.
"I'll miss you, too, Arnold." Connor laughed, and then looked up. "And you, Kevin."
Kevin didn't know how to respond without getting all gross and emotional, so he said nothing at all.
Connor waited for Kevin to make a move, but he didn't, so he continued on.
"Goodbye." he said finally, with a curt nod, before turning and leaving with his mission companion.
Kevin sat feeling numb for hours afterward wondering about the sudden hole in the universe where Connor used to be.
