Chapter 28 - Levi Squad

After having dozed off and getting much needed rest I woke up what felt like a few hours later. I yawned stretching my arms and standing up in my cell. I looked through the bars to see Historia sleeping soundly and decided to keep quiet, as to not disturb her. 'While I'm in here I guess I should try to stay in shape.'

I kneeled down onto the floor before going into a plank position and repping out pushup after pushup whilst staring at the ground. Quickly I zoned out losing track and decided to just count after I started feeling the burn. 'I wonder what Annies doing right now, she's probably sleeping honestly.' I chuckled internally. 'I always saw her sleeping in till around noon when we were off. I'd like to go back to training in the cadets with Annie and the others. Those days were the happiest.' My breathing started to hitch pulling me back to reality as I started struggling to rep out pushups. 'Ok. . . I should probably count now.' I started repping slower and slower until I hit around twenty-five and collapsed onto the ground unable to push myself back up.

"That was hell." I rolled onto my back out of breath.

"Looked like it too." Historia giggled scaring the shit out of me and causing me to bang my head on the floor.

"Oh, it's just you Historia. . .' I rubbed my head tenderly before sitting up and turning back to her. "You scared me. I was zoned out and didn't see you wake up." I chuckled crossing my legs and resting my arms at my side. 'I'm gonna get thirty next time.'

"I could see, I counted at least seventy before losing track. But that was around the beginning. Do you remember how many you did?"

"Oh, I wasn't really counting." I scratched my head before standing up and beginning my next set. But I barely got ten pushups in before I heard the sound of footsteps descending the stairs and shortly after the door was being pushed open.

"Y/N L/N. Commander Erwin wants to talk with you." A man adorning a scout badge addressed me immediately before turning to Historia. "Release him from the cell please." He requested. 'Erwin wants to talk to me? Why wouldn't he just come here? '

"Yes sir." She swiftly nodded before unlocking the hatch with a key and swinging the door wide open. I stepped out and the man gestured me to follow him, before heading back towards the door. I followed him up the steps along with Historia, as she was now off guard duty.

"Hey you think I could get a spare pair of clothes and a shower before meeting the commander. I'm covered in dirt and sweat." I requested as we exited the stairwell and entered a long corridor. He stopped seemingly pondering my request before nodding and turning in a different direction.

From the corner of my eyes I noticed Historia split off from us and waved goodbye to her. She waved back briefly before disappearing around a corner.

"Yes, but make it quick, I don't want to keep the Commander waiting." He showed me to a spare room with a shower and handed me a pair of clothes.

"Thanks." I rushed into the room entering the bathroom and stripping down, turning on the shower I stuck my hand under the water and was rather disappointed to see it was cold. 'What did I think it was going to be, this is a shitty military base after all, I should be lucky there's a working shower.' I hopped in regardless washing off the grime of dirt quickly before lathering up my hair and putting soap on my face. Lastly I rinsed it all off and exited the shower.

Grabbing my towel from the counter I dried off and quickly put on clothes. And glanced into the mirror. 'Damn I need a haircut. It's overgrown everywhere.' I ran my finger through my hair which was draping over my ears and eyes. I decided just to push it back over my forehead for the time being and ignore it. Turning to the door I pulled it open and saw the man standing waiting for me.
