Author's Note: So how this works is that we are a mercenary from the Planet, Kuat. Which for those of you who don't know, is the place where most of the Super Star Destoryer classes for the Imperial Navy were built, and we wear Mandalorian armor and wrist weapons. The reason why is because I like Beskar armor and because I couldn't think of another type of armor that would suit our character.
Planet Coruscant: Naboo starship escort arriving in star port with former Naboo Queen, Senator Amidala.
Padmé's POV.
Getting to see Coruscant again was a bit anxious for me ever since the incident with the Trade Federation's invasion of Naboo. Since then, the Republic has been keeping a weathered eye on me and the Queen, showing concern that the newly formed Confederacy of Independent Systems, or the CIS, would possibly try assassination attempts upon some of the Senator's in the Republic. But the reasoning behind my return to Coruscant was to vote on the matter of a Grand Army of the Republic to be deployed in defense of the systems still in the hands of the Republic.
When entering the atmosphere of Coruscant, the star port and docking areas were nearly completely blanketed in mist and fog, with only my star fighter's censor array being able to guide me down to the landing pad. This setting only heightened the tension I felt as our small escort of Naboo star fighters and the J-Type Diplomatic Barge steadily approached the landing pad. I was happy to not be alone thanks to my robotic companion and Astromech Droid, R2-D2 keeping me company and giving me something else to think about when we touched down that wasn't having to vote in the senate, but rather maintenance check for the little droid.
Upon closer view of the landing pad, several flight officers directed our landing as we approached, giving us some space on the landing and as to make any repairs that may be needed and refueling much easier. As I steadied the fighter, I eventually let it touch the floor of the landing pad before unbuckling and pressing the droid eject button that started lowering R2 out of the star craft.
I let my head lean back in my seat for a moment and took a breather as I rested my eyes from the long trip. But there is no rest for the wicked and I opened my star fighter's pilot hatch before climbing out onto the landing zone. Despite being surrounded by friends and allies, I still felt this strange sense of paranoia as I stepped onto the landing pad, but didn't think much of it as I walked over to Captain Typho, the head of my security detail's and good friend.
Upon getting out of his fighter and joining me on the landing pad, he removed his helmet as more Naboo security and my double walked off the shuttle, "We made it!" Typho stated as he took glances around the landing pad. "I guess I was wrong. There was no danger at all." He smiled at me as the rest of our crew started stepping onto the landing pad. But his statement wasn't to last.
Suddenly, a large explosion went off inside of the shuttle, sending security troops hurtling off the ramp and to the ground as the explosion either injured or killed them out right. My handmaiden and close friend, Cordé, was caught in the explosion as she was impersonating me incase of this event. The explosion sent me and Typho to the ground from the knock back as the shuttle was completely destroyed, sending several pieces off the platform, as well as one of our star fighters.
Me and Typhon quickly jumped up to inspect the damage, and I hurried over to Cordé and removed my helmet to see her injured and dying, "Cordé!?" I spoke with worry in my voice as I move Cordé to look up at me, "My lady...I'm so sorry. I-I failed you, Senator..." Cordé spoke as best she could, before succumbing to her injuries, "No!" I exclaimed before her body went limp, signifying that she was now dead.
Typho came over to my side, his hand blaster drawn as he surveyed the area to make sure no immediate threat was around. "My lady, your still in danger here. We must leave now." He stated. I stood up while looking down at my dead friend, "I shouldn't have come back." I stated to myself as much as I did to Typho. But Typho wasn't going to let me be dissuaded so easily, "This vote is very important. You did your duty, Cordé did hers. Now come." Typho said before beginning to move away from the scene but stopped when I didn't immediately follow, "Senator Amidala, please." Typho begged me as I gave one last look at Cordé before letting Typho lead me to the exit from the landing pad.
