Kiba listened to Florin as he told her the events of the early morning. They were sitting side by side on the same log just like the previous day. It was evening again and the sun was setting. The other kids who were present earlier had left for their respective homes.
Florin had stayed indoors throughout and only came out for lunch and breakfast. Thankfully, none of his parents brought up the midnight incident. But it did nothing to abate his worries and fear.
"So you're telling me you saw a woman this morning?" asked Kiba.
"I don't know if I could call it a woman," replied Florin, his gaze focused on the grass beneath them. "I can't even classify it as human. It was distorted and horrifying. I've seen better things in horror movies."
Kiba shook her head, adjusting her glasses that nearly fell off the bridge of her nose. "I knew we shouldn't have been to that house. I warned you. Count yourself fortunate that i believe you. I know you aren't making this up."
"Really?" Florin glanced at her.
She nodded. "I can read energy, body language and emotions. I know if someone is being sincere, sad, happy, pretentious or vindictive."
Florin raised his eyebrows.
"Call it a gift." She picked at the helm of her skirt and smiled softly at him.
There was silence again. Florin scratched his hair and Kiba stared at the sky.
"I have a feeling this is not over," she said. "Whatever you saw is not going to stop. You've  invited a dark force into your life."
"Why am I the only one it's after? You stepped into the house too." Florin was confused and frustrated at the same time.
"For good reason, remember." Kiba folded her arms. "To stop you from waking a sleeping beast. An action that is obviously futile now. It must have seen that I was clearly not interested in the house. You, on the other hand-"
Kiba paused and stared at him plainly.
"None of this makes any sense." Florin tugged at his hair. "There has to be something i can do. I can't bear to see that face again."
Kiba detected the fear in his eyes..
"There is something we can try, " she said. "I'm suspecting that thing you saw is some kind of ghost."
"No kidding," Florin muttered.
"You should come over to my place tomorrow." Kiba stood up from the log and dusted her skirt.
"The solution is at your house?" Florin asked, confusion written on his face.
"Probably. Just be there. " Kiba replied.

When Florin got back home, his father was at the dining table and his mother was dishing out the food.
"Back in time for dinner," Joshua said as soon as Florin settled at his seat. "Have you made any new friends?"
"Yes," Florin replied. He looked down at his fingers drumming nervously at the table. Could he call Kiba his friend? They had been acquainted for just a day. But there was something about the bespectacled girl that made him comfortable.  She seemed very smart and mature for someone who was supposed to be ten years old. He also found himself attracted and envious of her confidence. This was something he lacked that made him a social outcast.
Samantha placed Florin's food before him and he held a grimace. She placed Joshua's food before him and he smiled nervously.
"Okay boys, dinner is set." Samantha smiled as she settled down. Florin and Joshua looked at each other. Their eyes communicated one message. Disgusting.
The light above flickered all of a sudden. Florin swallowed hard as a feeling of fear fill inside him. There was a slight breeze after. The lights flickered again and Joshua  looked up.
"What's wrong with the electricity?" he asked. "This house is not that old."
Then the lights went off.
"For goodness sake," Joshua muttered, standing up. He walked out of the kitchen, leaving Florin and his mother alone.
Florin squinted his eyes in the dark. He could make out Samantha in her seat moving slightly.  She picked out her phone and switched it on, illuminating her face. Florin gasped as the light also revealed someone behind her. Florin's eyes widened as he recognized who it was. It was the same monstrous entity he saw earlier in the morning. It looked bigger more menacing. It's deathly eyes were fixed on Samantha as it raised its hands above her. It's claws became elongated and it bared it's rotten teeth. It was ready to strike the oblivious woman below.
"Mom!" Florin shrieked.
"What!" Samantha exclaimed, the annoyance evident in her tone.
The lights came  back on. The figure was gone and Samantha was looking at him, her brows furrowed in frustration.
"Why did you yell like that?" She asked."What's wrong with you?"
"I-" Florin scratched his head.
Joshua stepped into the kitchen at that moment.
"The fuse is fine," he said as he sat down. "That's weird."

An hour later, Florin was dressed for bed. He switched off the lights and lay on his bed. Sleep wouldn't come. He shut his eyes tight and tried to force it bit to no avail. The counting sheep wouldn't suffice. His parents would have been in bed sleeping, unaware of the danger that lurked in the house.
Almost an hour later, sleep was finally coming to him when he heard a light tap at the head of his bed. He looked up and immediately regretted  his actions.
The nightmarish figure was floating above his bed and staring intensely at him.
"I see you." It's voice sounded even darker as it grinned. It's large, empty demonic eyes glowed.
Petrified, Florin opened his mouth to yell but no words came out. The figure reached out to touch him with her disfigured hands.
"Get away from me!" Florin covered his head with the sheets. "Please, leave me alone!"
He heard a whoosh of a faint wind. With shaky hands, he pulled the cover away from his head and slowly opened his eyes.
The figure was gone.
