*2 weeks later.*
Amaya's P.O.V:
"Lilah!" I call from the girls' bedroom, "Mellie!"
The two girls run in. I grab two dresses from the cupboard. I hang them on hooks.
"Is it uncle Dom's funeral today?" Lilah asks sadly
"Yes baby girl, it is." I sigh, "can you get into your dress on your own, I'm gonna help Mel,"
Lilah nods. I grab mellies dress.
"Arms up my baby." I tell her.
She puts her arms up and I take off her nightie. I let her hold my shoulders as she steps into her dress. She turns around and I zip it up. She sits at the dresser and I brush her hair into a bun then put in and clip with a black bow. She hops off and Lilah hops on. I brush her long hair. I put it in two space buns.
"I want my net veil thingy like I had at nana's funeral." Lilah tells me softly.
"I left that at pop pop's." I reply, "so you've got a bow."
"Ok." She swings her legs.
I clip it in then go to my room to get changed into my blues. I do my hair and make up. I go out and see mason with the kids. He is in a black suit. We walk out then head down to the car. Livia starts fussing so I take her off Mason.
"Livi, Bub, what's wrong?" I bounce her gently.
She lies her head on my shoulder and falls asleep.
"Well, she was tired." I murmur softly.
We get to the car and I lie Livia in her seat. I buckle her up then hop in front. We drive to the church where the funeral was being held. I lift Livia out of her seat, her dress swishing. I lie her head on my shoulder and we walk in. We take our seat up the front beside Olivia, Amanda and Noah. Noah is sitting on his mothers lap. The funeral starts. Olivia is called up. She places Noah on the chair.
"Good morning to you all," liv starts, "I'm lieutenant Olivia Benson. I was Detective Carisi's Boss. When he first started, I was like, 'who is this kid, does he know what he's doing?' But over time, I learnt, he was an awesome detective, smart, bright, empathetic to those he needed to be, but most of all, he was kind to the victims. He left his mark in our unit, he left shoes too big to fill. And you know, I blame myself, I am his boss. He was young, he had his whole life ahead of him. He was to be a father. We will miss him. Thank you."
She comes and sits back down. I Notice her badge a little wonky.
"Livvie, you badge is wonky." I whisper
She nods and adjusts it. The funeral ends. I pass Livia to Mason and stand up with Olivia and Amanda. We carry out the casket. I start to cry. We load it into the hearse. We salute and he is driven off. We seperate and I immediately walk to mason and lay my head on his shoulder. I cry. Livia wakes up.
"Mama sad?" Livia asks
"Yeah baby, mama sad." I smile weakly
"Hug?" She asks
I lift her into my arms. She wraps her arms around my neck and I kiss the side of her head. Lilah hugs my waist. I place my other hand on her back. Mason lifts up mellie than puts his other arm around my back. We slowly walk to the car. I lay Livia in her seat and Lilah won't let go of me.
"Lil, baby, you gotta let me go." I tell her.
She hides her face behind my back. I bend down to her height.
"I know you miss him, Lilah, I promise cuddles at home." I tell her.
She nods and hops in the car. I hop in and we drive home. I go around to lilah's door and she latches on to me. I lift her up and carry her up. I go to my room and lie her on the bed.
"I'm just going to change and get you some comfy clothes." I tell her
She nods and I quickly change. I grab her an oversized tee and some track pants. I get her changed then we cuddle on my bed. I stroke her hair softly while she cries. She starts shivering, her tiny body shaking. I pull the doona up over us. Lilah cries herself to sleep. I hold her close and fall asleep myself.
