©Aislynn d'Merricksson, 2008Rain.
Rain everywhere.
Torrents of it,
creating opaque walls of water.
Red lights appear from the gloom,
blinking off and on, off and on
from beyond the milky, inky walls of doom.
Noise.
Noise everywhere.
A raucous cacophony
assaulting battered senses.
Sirens wail in the dark of night,
a mournful sound- a dirge
heralding a terrible plight.
Pain.
Pain everywhere.
Jolts of it,
wracking a body destroyed.
Fiery pain and sudden, bright light,
body freed, but mind is trapped.
Trapped within and lost of sight.
Fear.
Fear everywhere.
Shivers of terror shoot through a mind trapped.
No sight. Only sound remains
and the body will not speak to the mind.
Will not move, will only heed the terrible pain.
Quiet.
Quiet everywhere.
Silence descends of tortured body and turgid mind,
stilling even the ruby thud within.
No pain now, only the Deathbringer's gentle kiss
freeing spirit from mortal coil.
No fear now, only Annwfyn's utter bliss.
