I miss childhood summer nights,
chasing fireflies and frogs.
Today I have cool nights that carry
playful winds and the mournful wail of a nearby foghorn.I miss long nights playing games-
card games, video games, dice games.
Today I have my trust tablet complete with pocket-size versions of all those late-night pleasures.I miss the days just before I chose the divergent path, to walk alone, sometimes rueing the choice and the consequences of fear.
Today I have a family quite unlike any other, people who love me, who respect my choices, and cherish me despite infirmities.I miss days driving, that sense of independence shat was shattered one day by the loss of an eye.
Today I no longer drive, my full independence stripped, yet I have learned to see so much more.########
