CHAPTER THREE "nothing will happen to you while im here. i promise."
"I CAN DRIVE YOU HOME, E. I don't know when Chad's leaving and if you want to go home right now, I can take you." Ethan looked at her for a moment before Mindy called her and him out to the living room. "Come on, let's go see what they want." Ethan, from his spot on her bed, grabbed her hand before she could leave, pulling her into his arms. His chin rested against her stomach, looking up at her. Liesel stood in between his legs, her hands in his black curly hair.
"What if I just stayed here for tonight? You were drinking and I don't think you should be driving."
"Sure, I have some of your stuff in my closet. But for now, lets see what they want." Liesel moved away from the boy, pulling him up from the bed with her hand in his before making their way out to the living room. "What's up?" The Conner girl looked around the room, seeing Sam and their neighbor walk in through the front door. "Oh, neighbor?"
"The mutilated bodies of two students were discovered." Liesel looked towards Ethan as she gripped his hand tighter, hoping it wasn't what she thought it was. The boy moved them towards the couch, pulling her to sit right next to him as they watched the news. "Their names have just been released by police. Jason Carvey and Greg Buckner."
"Holy shit, that's that chode from our film studies class. The one obsessed with Argento."
"Please be a random murder. Please. Please." The Landry boy looked at his girlfriend and then down at their interlocked hands, knowing his father had gone out tonight. This was the first of many, but Ethan wasn't going to be apart of it. He knew it was wrong and he couldn't do anything to stop it, because if he did, Liesel would die next.
"Also found at the scene were various Ghostface costumes, a character popularized by the Stab movie franchise." Sam, Mindy, Chad, Tara, and Liesel all looked at each other, realizing their nightmares were becoming a reality once again.
"Pack a bag, we leave in ten." Liesel's head dropped with a sigh, her mind moving at a million miles an hour.
"Lies. Hey, look at me." Ethan placed one hand on her jaw, keeping her from looking away as Sam and Tara walked out of the room, Chad moving the neighbor out of the apartment. "Nothing will happen to you while I'm here. I promise." The brunette nodded her head, believing everything he said, trying to make herself feel better.
"No wait, let's talk about this for a second." The older sister walked out of the room with a knife in her hand as Liesel got up from the couch. "Cause this might not have anything to do with us."
"Tara, just listen to yourself. Those guys had stuff from the movie about us! Have you ever noticed Jason had a hundred people in his class but he chose to try and be friends with you? That dude used to go out of his way just to sit near you in class or say hi to you. For all we know, he wanted to be near you and us because he liked the movies. It probably has everything to do with us." Chad nodded his head in agreement with the Conner girl, telling the group that she had a point.
"It's a big city. It's Halloween? Everybody's wearing masks!"
"Tara, this isn't a coincidence. Just like Lies said, you knew him." The younger sister threw her hands in the air, telling Sam she barely knew him. "Chad, Mindy, back me up."
"It is a little bit..." Chad turned to his sister as she finished his sentence, shrugging as she agreed.
"Close to home. Sam and Liesel have a point." Sam turned to Tara, before the younger brunette turned to Quinn, asking if her dad was a cop. Quinn's eyes quickly glanced over to Ethan, who gave her a stern look, not trying to be apart of anything happening in front of him.
"Can you call him and find out whats going on? Before you make the unilateral decision to abandon my college education and flee the fucking state!" Sam turned to Quinn, like she was asking if she was going to call him.
"I'm calling him now." As soon as Quinn brought her phone up to her ear, the phone on the table began to rang, Liesel's eyes going wide. The group of five survivors just stared at it for a moment as Liesl groaned.
"Fuck my life. I thought this shit was over. Who the hell is it?" Sam picked up the phone, declining the call before taking a deep breath.
"Why did everyone just freak out when her phone rang?"
"You're dating a survivor. You got to keep up, my dude." Liesel turned to Ethan, shaking her head with a tight lipped smile, like she was telling him not to worry about it.
