Chapter 2: The Mental Breakdown

The days passed, and Y/n tried her best to ignore the new girl. But everywhere she turned, there she was - laughing with the other Gladers, impressing them with her skills, and generally being perfect.

Y/n couldn't take it anymore. She retreated to the Homestead, where Minho and Newt found her huddled in a corner, tears streaming down her face.

"Y/n, what's wrong?" Newt asked, crouching down beside her.

"I can't do this anymore," Y/n sobbed. "I can't watch Thomas and that girl together. I can't pretend like I'm okay with this. It's too much."

Minho sat down next to her, putting an arm around her shoulders. "Hey, it's okay to be upset. But you can't let it consume you."

Y/n nodded, but the anger and sadness inside her continued to build. And then Thomas walked in.

"Hey, what's going on?" he asked, concern etched on his face.

Y/n's emotions boiled over. She stood up and started throwing things - pillows, books, anything she could get her hands on.

"Why her, Thomas?" she screamed. "Why does she get to be with you? What does she have that I don't?"

Thomas tried to calm her down, but Y/n wouldn't listen. She kept shouting, her words becoming more and more irrational.

Finally, Minho and Newt intervened, gently guiding Y/n away from Thomas and the mess she had made. They sat with her until she had calmed down, talking to her and helping her work through her feelings.

Eventually, Y/n fell asleep, exhausted from the emotional outburst. When she woke up, she felt drained but more clear-headed than before. She knew that she had to face her feelings head-on, and that it wouldn't be easy.

But with Minho and Newt by her side, she felt like she could handle anything. Even the arrival of a beautiful new girl.
