Emin’s POV
It’s been around 6 months since my family moved to a town called Delmont. We had to move here after my oldest child Clovis awakened his element of fire. Also back in the village our neighbour Hojin could no longer teach my son anything as he had already mastered everything he had to give. According to him Clovis was a genius in swordsmanship and it would be a pity if his talent goes to waste. No one would understand this better than me because I too wished to do a job using a sword but I never had the chance to learn and my element wasn’t very supportive to it. Now my son has both of them, at the very least he can be a head guard of the city even if his mana development stops at C-late like me.
I am an earth element holder. The only thing that set me apart from the huge mass of people like me is my metal work skills. Our family has been working as blacksmiths for many generations and also honing our skills to be one of the best with the passage of time. And it was always surprising for me to remember that we got our false noble honour because of my grandfather’s hobby of acting rather than our professional skills. I can’t blame him because eventually it did help in boosting our name and thus increasing our earnings. Maybe the art of performance remained in our blood as I even caught the eye of my beautiful Amara through playing a guitar.
*Flashback*
It was a fine day when I was 16 and had a day off from my father’s shop due to the local autumn festival. I had earned some pocket money through selling some of my metal works that included pendants, sculptures, trinkets, etc. It had been a year since I had starting learning guitar and I had mastered my favourite song ‘You are the one’ on its strings. I knew I was favoured by the girls due to my pleasant face and muscular limbs. Hence I decided to gain more of their attention and give them an eye feast. I dressed my best and picked up my guitar, then went to the open market where the festival was usually celebrated. It was sunset time perfect for everyone to enjoy. I stood under a tree and started playing. Gradually, I attracted a small crowd. I noticed most were girls of my age, I was secretly proud. Everyone clapped when I was finished, but before I could move out of the place a girl approached me. She stood out from everyone else with her wild wavy hair and emerald green eyes. She introduced with her name, her age (which was 15) and asked me mine. She also asked if I could play the song 'A Beautiful Meet’. Fortunately I knew it. I immediately agreed. And then she danced as I played. It was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen. A bigger crowd was gathered who cheered for us at the end. I asked her if she was new to this village because I would never forget such a graceful girl. She said yes and she will be living here from then on. After that we began meeting every now and then. It took me 3 years to confess that I loved her and 4 more years to make her my wife. I can proudly say that she is the best thing that ever happened to me. She can always make me feel shy like the first day of our meeting and I am glad that I too am the reason of her happiness.
*Flashback end*Surprisingly my business here was better than I expected and now I am glad that we moved out. Even though Amara lost her beautiful garden back in the village, she now gets to work in huge fields of crops and flowers not only due to her powers but also for her extensive knowledge. This town is the closest coastal town to the capital city of Quintine which houses the largest population in all cities of our Empire. Jobs were mostly divided among people according to the elements they had. In most cases fire elements are given offense positions of guards, knights and protectors. In a battle they were the one who took the frontline and engaged in close range combats. They were considered the most powerful by people even if it wasn’t officially proven. Air element holders were mostly given positions of transporting things, cleaning and tracking because their biggest advantage was flying which others couldn’t do. They were also the masters of long range attacks. Earth element holders were the prime members of production process including construction work, agriculture, weapon making etc. They were also considered the defenders in battles. Water element holders were considered the weakest in a battle. But they were the prime supporters due to their expertise in healing. They possessed a stability not seen in others which helped them bring out the perfection in each job.
Our empire was one of the four empires in the continent. Concord Empire lied on the eastern side and was known for its warriors of fire element. The Empire of Morven lied towards the north and has a capital city called Birtle. Covered in hilly lands, they were known for their earth element holders who produced various ores and minerals. Dwarves often visited this area. Towards the east side lied the Empire of Aran, the land of forests. Hugely populated by elves that are called agents of the wind, its present ruler who is a human had married an elf as his queen. Its capital is called Boyce. Towards the south lied the empire of Kailani with its capital city of Kaia. Known for its people of huge size and brute strength, they hugely favoured the people who had the water element. They have the largest coastal area out of all the empires. There is another presence in the continent that influences the whole four empires. It is the A.M.I standing for Academies of Magical Intelligence which is a school for all the children of the empire and has a branch in each of the Empires. The best thing about it is it didn’t discriminate between nobles & commoners or between elements. Anyone who passed the entrance was eligible to take admission. The academy gave 6 years of education which included various subjects. The students who were the top of the academy often got to work right under the emperor or created independent marks in the history. Children usually took admission at 12, 2 years after their mana awakening. This was one the prime reasons why we moved out. I wished for my son to attend the academy.
